How bout some WD40 on the reels? Might do the trick.
Very big NONO that, as it attracts dust, and can make the area sticky, as most have found out, when they apply the stuff to coin mech's, and payout solanoids.
If anything in the way of lube is needed, then the most you should ever use, is something called Trackglide, found redly in places like Maplins, candle wax, or in some cases like coin mech's, furniture polish.
