I've got a question on this. I played one on £70 jackpot and dealt at £24 odd and the mega streak was in the box.

Does this then mean that the machine will make up the £45 in wins straight after, i.e. to give you what you missed out on or does it just play as normal?!

Has happened to me several times, and it doesn't bother me in general as I'm usually only looking to kill 5 minutes when playing these days.

If I was programing these machines, I would build in allowances for variable wins to be paid in the DOND feature. So I would make the Mega Streak available sometimes even if the machine wasn't necessarily ready to pay big time. Something along the lines of creating a win-pot that builds up over time to the end-of-cycle streak, and a separate DOND win-pot that allows different wins to be chucked in on the DOND feature at random. So the amounts in the "box" would be relatively independent of whether the machine had streaked recently, or was nearly ready to streak.

I would bet money that this is how Bellfruit have built these machines.

In short, no I don't think the machine will pay you the remaining £45.

In short, no, the machine wanted you to take that deal, which would bump it's percentage back enough that it would cost more to get another super feature and the people who pay for the DOND feature would have to pay that extra wee bit more for it, and the machine would make it's money, we all whinge that these machines are everywhere and don't pay out enough, they're an absoloute dream for the house, in my work we have a Monopoly WOW and a Dond Big Deal, the WOW took just over 500 for the fortnight and the BD took just over 1500, so you can understand why they're rolling them out by the dozen. As for the seperate build pot for the DOND, to me that sounds like a very good idea but untill the current setup stops wokring, we won't see it. The machines are built for the house, not for the punter.

relating to bowie's post... i think thats also just happend in the local arcade and most places to a new level...

the arcade used to have casino 5 liner with that pacman zone machine next to it... pacman zone machine raped me outta over £100 once and its best offer was £20, the same day i went on the casino 5 liner next to it (same 70% payout), and managed to get to the top note shots and got £70, out of a tenner...

that machine was also in the spoons but its gone from there now and today i saw it had gone from the arcade and guess whats next to it???? "vamp it up 70% payout" which to me is basically an exact close of the pacman zone machine next to it...

in fact these machines are again pretty much a clone of DOND machines (with the DOND type game where the prize is hidden behind that mirror), but just different themes :(

it makes me think about what you said about it almost forces you to cashout so it can level at a %.... afterall its likely in thoese situations 1p and "mega streak" are the 2 remaining boxes and in most cases people will take the in between offer

How do you know that this isn't already the current setup? I didn't say anything about the machine being designed to cater to players rather than the house, or to pay out more than it's target percentage. That would clearly be ridiculous to say that. I'm just talking about how Bellfruit could build a level of pseudo-randomness and unpredictability into the DOND feature.

Another example of this would be awarding a "random" invinicible feature once every 1000 spins. This would occur regardless of where the machine was in its cycle. This doesn't help the player or make it pay out excessively. But it does keep players guessing and coming back for more. The machine could be programmed to save up slowly for this random jackpot over the 1000 spins.

Don't underestimate the thought and time that goes into programming the payout scheduling of these machines. It is critical to making the machine as addictive as possible.

I bever play them but went on them in the service station the other day on 25p play and had the £70 mega streak off both the ones I played within £10 - yes I know it's luck but nice anyway :-) the first one started flashing go all the way and the second one I just rejected all offers and it was in the box.
