with the upcoming general election and a dispatches programme on the royal mail, I believe that the torie party should abandon their plans to raise tuition fees to £7,000, and instead fill the gap by selling Royal Mail to private investors. Now i'm only 18 so I don't know what the rest of you think about my view on this, but getting rid of a service which just isn't working anymore, with the constant strikes and, by the looks of it, staff who don't do no work even after they get what they want should always come before hiking up fees for those who wish to help the country prosper with a degree for future generations to enjoy.

haha, well its just frustrating, what with me off to uni next year and all, £7,000 is a daunting prospect, work out to be borrowing £13k a year overall, and thats just tuition and rent if they get in

Hmmm, I'm a graduate of around 5 years now and doing quite well for myself. However, a great many of those who graduate simply do not go on to particularly great heights. So why should the government continue to fund these "advanced" wasters? Some of the people who first went to uni at the same time as me are still there, or are doing menial jobs - which surely isn't where a graduate should be going?
Selling the post office? You can expect price increases, "rationalisation", and I'm not even sure it would be a better service.
£13k a year is going to sting. £52k if you have the sense to get it over and done within the 4 years. My advice is to take the plunge, but make the goddam most of it and pass everything, get work experience, and emerge as a success.

didn't know that about teachers having their loans wiped out - interesting. To be honest they only make people pay back after earning over a certain amount and personally I didn't mind paying my fees back and don't see why anybody would - It's a decision you make for your education and future - don't think anybody else should be forced to pay it. Also if you want to learn German to help with your education and go to nightschool you wouldn't get help so why would you expect to at any other time (I didn't)?
And I personally think that Royal Mail needs a shot in the arm to the management - they need to strip out the top tier and bring in real business process (ie targets that need to be achieved otherwise they lose the franchise).

I'm already dreading the £3,290 I will be paying next year for a few years in a row to pay for my Uni tuition. Raising it to 7 grand? That's just absurd......OK we don't have to pay them back until we're on our feet in some way but it's going to be over double than what we would normally have to pay back
But, Royal Mail might not be the answer. I've had no problem with them, everything has been delivered on time for me.
What does need a complete shake down is the police force. What a joke they really are! No one respects or is scared of them. They have to spend most of their time doing paperwork or stupid actions to get from A to B which must cost a lot. Even things such as fitting a light bulb takes a LOT longer and costs more than is needed doing. But, it's not the fault of your average Plod. Society in general is the worst I've seen it, Stripping down the needless costs and paperwork of the police would be a good way to go to restore some sense. Bring back the Sweeney days!
But, as said above, it's not the postman that's got it wrong or the policeman that gives you a caution. It's the higher management that is the problem, with its targets and box ticking and red tape. The postmen and coppers are just doing their jobs. It's the management that spends extravagantly making their jobs hard, and they don't get it in the neck. A mate that is a postman, had his round extended just like that. Of course, people will complain to HIM that their mail is late. But it's not as easy as that.

This can't be true. I know they are pushing for more teachers, but thats to generous for this government.
