hiya folks,ive got an avi file of about 500mb,its a Tracy Chapman concert (quite a rare one) but the problem is,there is no audio on it ive tried all manner of codecs k-lite etc but without success- the nfo file that came with the download states that there is audio so im assuming there is a codec problem. im desperate to get the audio working so i can convert it and burn it to DVD any help would be greatly appreciated and would help get me out of the doghouse - thanks in anticipation

tried VLC?

VLC media player for Windows

once loaded (if no sound)
right click > audio > audio tracks & one should be highlighted

tried it matty but i get an error message saying no decoder for vo3+ if i had any hair left id be pulling it out by now lol im at a loss

vo3+ = Vorbis 3 Plus

a bastard of an audio codec

http://tirnanog.fate...cm_20020708.zip (virus free, scanned, downloaded & installed it on my own system)

right download & then extract this folder

open it then right click > Install the file named install

try loading it in WMP & it should work

Bri give this a go and see if you can find the missing codec from the file scan info. Then find it online. There's something about ac3 filter being able to decode most audio in many avi files, but I don't know much about it.

thanks for the suggestions guys,ive tried everything but the best i can get now is a garbled screeching - not making sense at all - the file extension seems to be a .mkv file but even though the codec is installed i still get no sound if anyones feeling brave enough to grab the file through msn and have a go at converting it for me give me a pm lol

I thought this was sorted by someone else. I use mac so don't have messenger, and pretty much hate IM. Was this off a torrent Bry? I'd rather just redownload it my end then see if I can do anything with it. Sending it back isn't a problem as I've got a server and can link you to a direct download.

I did have a scoot on demonoid and saw some live performances there from 2004 and Saturday night live. (4 vids) Was it the same ones by any chance? I doubt it cos they were mpegs
