Hi All

Just to advise that next Thursday the 4th of March, the repro will be off line between 08:00 to 12:00 as the man from VM will be comming some time during this time frame to install my new Cable Modem to give me a nice 50MB broadband, this will improve the upstream to 1.5mb and also at this speed I am not subject to there peek time upload and download limits which means I will not have to throttle the speed or close off the repro during this time.

If you have any questions regarding this outage please ether pop them in this thread or send me a PM

Just a quick reminder that the repro will be off line tomorrow from 8am until 12pm or until after the man from VM has been to make the speed faster which ever is the soonist.

whenever im on the most i will get is 3kb/s

if im lucky ill get 10kb/s & thats with only one file downloading

thats great news that your going to the VM 50meg it is a great improvement then the other speeds they have i know as i have it too and the upload speeds are very impressive

Yes the D/L speeds will improve for 2 reasons the up speed goes from 700mb to 1.5 mb and also i am off the VM throttle limits so i dont have to deliberately slow the repro down at certain times any more

The man from VM has been and we are now on 50mb so the Repro is back and running downloads should now be faster obvioulsy depending on how many people are downloading at any given time.

Yeah, think it's down right now.

If Virgin are installing between 9am and mid day as he said, then they'd likely get there at 11:59am, and be installing for 5 hours. Leave the house. Cliff would log on to the internet, realise he has no connection, call them up, they'd come straight back out and stare at the wires for a while... then say it's the local exchange, and they'd send an engineer out. Cliff will hear nothing for 3 hours. Then someone will come back and 'fix' it by simply connecting two wires they forgot to do the first time, but acting like it was a new thing.

Cliff will be online from around 9:47pm by my reckoning

Nope the down time this evening was nothing to do with VM who arrived here at 8:30 am and were gone by 9am with a fully working internet at speed, the downtime this evening was down to me I took the server down for what was ment to be a quick 5 min job did the job and then forgot to put the server back online. so all down to me.

Speeds should not be better there are however some times when i may need to throttle the speed so i can work on the PC remotely so it may slow down for a little while from time to time also, and of course there are times when the repro is getting lots of users who are attempting to download this is happening alot at the moment since i put the swp files on line and as these are also larger then your average fruit machine layout this is taking much longer for people to grab what thay want.
