Hi guys,
I run all my quiz machine games on my laptop. It's not new by any means, but runs XP smoothly. Until now it's run everything perfectly, but when i run the games listed as (XP + 7) on Cliffs Repro, they just give me a large black square across 3/4 of the screen.
Anyone got any idea why this is? I'd like to solve it, cause it's for my wife who's currently pregnant and bed ridden with Sciatic Pelvic Displacement. Taking the desktop upstairs isn't really an option, so fixing the laptop issue would be great.
thanks for any help.

Ah, cool. I don#'t have any codec installed, so I'll assume that will be my issue and hopefully this will fix it. Cheers, Cliff. I'll keep a look out for it later.

Me again
I've installed the codec but Cops N Robbers still crashes , is there an emulator I should be running first specifically for Paragon sets?
Thanks

Hi
I was jsut going to say I have no problems running cops and robbers as this is the game i most wanted to be able to play it was always the one we put our quid in when the local toby had paragon machines in, i was about to ask had you also put the DLL files in the windows\system32 folder but as you have now got it to work, I am assuming this is what you did. Cannot help you with the dummys one, however there are some of the paragon games that will not run, you can get to the start page but for some reason you cannot click on the start button so you cannot get the game to launch.

Thanks for your comments Cliff
Although I can get the game to run now ( it was the dll files ) I can't see the cursor.
I have tried Sonar and Xhair with no luck ..... any advice please?
Thanks again
p.s. Trivia for dummies is a GW set , anything I should have for running this type?
Cheers

You need to edit the .exe file using assembly code. It's a bit of a pain, cause you have to find the right area to do it and make the right changes but can take just a minute or two once you get the hang of it. Upload the exe file on here for me, and I'll edit it and send it back and we can see if it works. I've managed to fix most of the other games this way, just struggling to download the paragon ones at the mo due to slow speeds on the Repro.

Hi
I have just tested the Games Warehouse version of triva for dummys on my laptop with Sonar and I can see the cursor and play the game with no problems, so I dont know what is happening at your end it uses the same DLL's as the Paragon games.

Got it sorted, Cliff. He just emailed it me instead, and it's now a working exe file with the arrow and everything.
Managing to get the majority of the arrows working now, thanks to a little help from JayJay and then some crafty editing of my own. If i could get the downloads to come quicker from your Repro I'd be editing them all and checking, but I'm really struggling. I'd get the pack off ebay, but being on ESA and with a pregnant wife can't really afford it at the mo, even if it is just £8 so for now I'll sit and wait. Thanks again for hosting the files though Cliff, even if it's slow, it's free so no one can really complain and at least we have them all in one place.

Thanks for your help Cliff but I'm not getting anything at all with Trivia for Dummies.
I double click the exe and nothing happens, it's not showing in task manager either.
My Paragon games are working fine so I have all the bits and pieces.
I will download again and check.
Thanks again

Sorted......
I must be the dummy this time.
I made a new folder on C drive called GamesWarehouse put the exe file in and it fired up straight away.
Not difficult when you put your mind to it ......... sometimes
Thanks for your help Cliff and thanks to Psychoduck for all his help with a cursor for CopsNRobbers.

I downloaded PARAGON Cops&Robbers from Cliffs but when I run the game I’m presented with the loading page and nothing happens (sound familiar). Task Manager Processes tells me my CPU is running at 99% on Cops&Robbers with my fan running so fast I’m expecting my PC to lift off.
Even though I’m not using a laptop I installed the codec FFDshow suggested by Cliff in this thread and also tried moving all the DLL files into system 32, still no joy. I’ve also tried random things in an attempt to make progress but now I’ve reached the stage where I’m doing the same things over again so its time to ask for help to get this game up and running and then I can pester you all as to how to see the cursor.
My OS is XP pro and this is the first Paragon game I’ve downloaded. All the INDE games I’ve downloaded I finally managed to run ok after a few suggested tweeks and tips from the better informed on here so I’ve got my fingers crossed… which makes typing really difficult… so some suggestions please.
