Evening all,
Having just found out there is an actual Pinball league going on in the uk and indeed Scotland, it got me thinking.
Unless you own an actual pin table or are lucky enough to still have one in your local arcade , then where would you practice on ?
As most people on here that go into arcades know, video games and piball machines are know thought of as " yesterdays news " , which is partly true. But over the last 4 or 5 years the pinball scene is picking up with yearly pinball shows now held and indeed a national UK pinball league.
What am looking for if anyone can be bothered, is maybe a rough idea how many pinball tables are still sited , wether its in an arcade or pub or holiday camp ect.
Am especially interested in locating any pinball machine sited in Scotland, so if anyone can add or maybe start a list then please do.
Having aleady contacted a few local gaming machine suppliers, it appears there is only a few within a 100 odd mile radius of me, which seems pretty low.
Any help, siteings ect would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Although I haven't been for about a year, Funland, Hayling Island on the south coast has 5 or 6 tables.
They were in a poor condition though. I wanted to buy a couple of them, but they wanted silly money
I remember they had Addams Family, STNG, Demolition man, Elvira, Indiana Jones and at least one other.
When my house sells, I am finally going to buy one!

Thanks for that ht6, but unfortunetly none of the above have any pinball tables. In fact i dont think ive ever seen a pinball in any arcade in Glasgow since the mid 90's !
However, all is not lost in weegieland, as ive been informed there is still a Simpsons Party pinball in a sportsbar round the corner from Cenral Station and have also been told there is a bar across from it with the same pinball.Bit of a trek from here though.
There is a Virgin Megastore on Oxford St.London that used to have a couple, dont know if it still does ? Anyone ?

Ive also enquired about getting one for home use.Only problem is= a brand new pinball machine costs £5k.A 2nd hand one in mint condition can cost nearly £3k ! Even the ones from the mid 90's.
There is a pinball called " Medievil Madness " which is about 17 years old and some are going for over £5k.
Even a decent Addams Family one can cost well over £1k.
The only problem is , there is only one company making them now and thats Stern.Gone are all the Bally and Williams, they jamp ship which seems a real shame. The Sega tables go for cheap but are not ones i remember favourably.
Virtual Pinball just doesnt fill the void for me.
I guess i'll just have to make a trip to Portobello soon then and play on the rather shabby and worn out Addams Family they have in one of the worst amusement arcades ive ever seen in my life which seems to be run by the most crooked owner and staff ive ever had the misfortune to meet.Ever.

Yes, they are very expensive, even 2nd hand which is why i've never gotten round to buying one!
I think you'd be lucky to get Addams for 1K though. It's Twilight zone I really want......
I nearly forgot to mention, my Local in Portsmouth (The Fountain, London Road) always have 1 table - but it's a stern soprano's at the mo which I don't really like. Recently got rid of Simpsons Pinball Party which was good

In Glasgow there was a few in the bowling alley near Finnieston (cant remember the name of it...Hollywood Bowl maybe) and I think they used to have 1 in the bowling (or the arcade) at Braehead
The pinball emulation scene is going strong, you could build a nice multi pinball table like this one http://www.hyperspin...read.php?t=4826

I've been in just about every bar in that area of Glasgow mate, and can't think of one with a pinball table. I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I see one when I'm out and about. I think the Big Apple really did used to have one, but they closed down a couple of years back for being, well, crap really. None of those other arcades listed have got one.

Lol, that's one of the few that I haven't been into for a long time. Not my scene at all, but I'll check for you if I'm round that way and going for a few pints in the near future.

Dougsta,
There is definely one round from Cental Station In Glasqow city centre. It also had loads of pool tables inside,Sports bar just down from the Toby Jug, if you know that.
Student unions were also a good place to find one.Even cinemas.

Exactly right mate - it's Reardon's and used to be the wine cellar place. Plenty machines in there, not sure if there's a pinball one or not. I'll go for a look this weekend as I'll be in the vicinity on Friday night
