Hi all

As you can see this is my first post ((been an active member for ages though)so please go easy on me :)

Ive own Andy Capps Big time (£250 jp) for about 3 years, but its been in storage for about 6 months, ive checked it over that period and it all has been working fine, now ive moved and taken it out of storage and into my new place. Now it worked for about an hour, then i took out the hopper to put some £1 coins and 20ps in and put it back. I then put in about £3 worth of 20p in to actually play, they seemed to go in fine then all of a sudden it started making a loud noise and throwing out 20p's every few seconds until the hopper was completely empty, i then opened the back up and saw the 20p pay out mechanism going crazy.

Any ideas whats wrong, the machine doesnt even turn on now, but the red light at the botton is on so showing that power is getting to the machine, i really know nothing about how they work and was dreading the day something went wrong, if its not a simple fix does anyone know a repairer in the London/Harrow area

Thanks

Not 100% here but the mpu could have suffered battery damage and that may have caused the fault,i'm sure baz or one of the other techs will beable to help you.

Thanks, So would that cause the constant pumping of the hoppers? Hopefully its not to complicated and i will be able to fix it myself

Not sure mate as i'm not a tech thats what would be my first thoughts that the batterys leaked on the mpu board and that will cause the machine to not run properly.

What do you mean by a loud sound? Was it a familiar sound to when the machine pays out in normal play mode or the alarm sound? (from what i remeber MPU4's never had an alarm sound)

will probably be the fact the battery has pissed all over the mpu

thats what usually happens when machines have been in storage/not turned on for a while

No, it wasnt familiar, although thinking about it though it could have been the payout constantly going really quickly cause thats what it looked like when i looked in the back when it was doing it.

Funny enough i tried to turn it on today and it worked, seemed fine for about 10 mins, then i did get an alarm, saying something about irregular coins (or something like that i cant remember now)

I turned it off and on again and its worked fine for the past hour

Is there a list of alarm messages anywhere cause i may be able to remember it if i see them, i actually paniced when it started alarming as ive not heard it before so quickly turned it off

Would this mean its knackard in the long run even though it is working now?>

See how it goes for an hour or so but KEEP YOUR EYE ON IT, just incase, if it seems to work fine from now on then it wil be ok, ive had one of my machines in storage when i was moving house and ended up leaving it in a garage for 4 month and had a few 'false' errors but all was fine in the end. If the problem continues, check general things like cables and ensure the gamecard is inserted properly, if it continues to f*** up then check the board (the motherboard in the black plastic cover) and you will see easily if there is corrosion to the board which 9/10 is a common problem for causing all sorts of damage. Hope this helps.
