Right this is very very confuisng for me & has me stumped

Im trying to run some Sega Namoi files

ive been told in order to run them in NullDc i need to uncompress them?

i tried using CHDman but it just closes instantly

so now i try mame

my mame.ini is this

rompath: D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\mame\roms
window 1

and in the roms folder is a folder called gdl-0018 and a zip folder (the rom?) called gdl-0018.zip

in the zip is gdl-0018.data

and in the gdl-0018 folder is a CHD file called gdl-0018.chd

whenever i run mame it says no games

what am i doing wrong???

any easier way to play naomi GD roms??

when using chdman click start menu then run then type cmd

once command prompt opens type

chdir [put path to chdman here]
then type

chdman.exe -verify [& put rom name] then press enter

should look something like this

this is when i change directory
C:\Documents and Settings\d0uga1>chdir C:\Documents and Settings\d0uga1\desktop\chdman test folder
this is when i run chdman and get it to verify the rom file simpbowl(simpsons bowling)
C:\Documents and Settings\d0uga1\desktop\chdman test folder>chdman.exe -verify simpbowl.chd

it will verify the the chd file and tell you if its a working chd.

if you just type chdman.exe after youve change directory in command prompt it will give a list of what you can do with chdman.

hope this helps.

i do know that you have to put the chd in its own folder within the roms directory and also have a rom file of the same game zipped in the roms directory.

also make sure you have the all the bios files in your rom directory.

if your using mame32 (or MameUI32) click the tab on the left hand side of mame that says HardDisk or chd (not too sure which) then doubleclick the game name your trying to play (even if the game is not there (it should be in the tab that says available).) so that you get the missing rom file error and it should say whats missing then check it on google to see what files missing then look for a download of it.

ive not used mamed before but have you updated the chd because with mame any version after 0.78 the chd process was changed.

try this (im using the simpbowl as a reference to the chd.)

First, rename the chd file "simpbowl.chd" to "simpbowlold.chd"
click start->run and type "cmd" to open a command prompt
browse to the directory which chdman.exe is located (like you did before using chdir in your case should be "chdir D:\as")
then Use chdman to update the chd by using the command "chdman -update simpbowlold.chd simpbowl.chd"

This will generate a new updated "simpbowl.chd" file in the same directory.

then check the new file that has been created in the directory and audit it with ClrMAMEPro or try chdman - verify "your new chd"

i found this info on 1emulation forum

if it wont work after that then make sure that again you have all the bios files mame requires and that you have the rom file(should be less that a meg in size) create a folder and call it the same name as your chd and put your new chd file in it then set your directories path one for your roms dir and another one for your chd folder inside your rom folder
ie: D:\mamed\roms
   & D:\mamed\roms\simpbowl chd)

if it wont run after doing all that then i dont know what to do cause im outta ideas.

perhaps you got a corrupt chd file try a downloading it again from somewhere else.

how big is the chd if its not too big and you can uploadit somewhere let me know and ill have a look at it for you (or tell me where you got it from and ill get it)

but let us me if you manage you get it sorted thnx

extract it from CHD to an ISO and a Toc (also decrypts it i believe)

then change the ISO to a BIN then create a cue file then modify that so it reveals the last track

extract that and then use gdrom2rom to make a .lst of the rom and then voila all done
