There are a few programs you'll see on sky TV where they are in Vegas.
If you remember in the papers a couple of weeks ago J-Lo's mum won over $1.000.000 on one spin.

there are some fruit machines in las vegas that are linked between every casino ie each casino has 3 or 4 of the same machine and they are all connected to the same machine in the other casinos. As they get played more and more, the jackpot continually increases until eventually one lucky sod wins the jackpot. These jackpots can reach well in excess of one million dollars.

There are poker machines like that too in the UK casino's........but as their balls go there is a limit.......or can that be a government cap?.....(bit of sarcasm there)

There's a machine there, can't rember it's name, but most of the casinos have 1 or 2 so there's hundreds of them in total and all linked up with the same progressive jackpot. Some woman won it last year/year before and was about $22 million. Not a bad return for a buck That being said big wins on slots/lottery in the states are a bit of a con. You get 10%-20% of your win there and then and the rest of it over 15-20 years. So basically they've had all that money already, stuck it in investments/bank/whatever and pay you the interest so they've still got that money after you've waited 20 years to get yours. Bit poo aint it ?

i'm thinking of going to las vegas next year. i have played the fruitys in online casinos but only for play money!! i don't like the features in the online casino ones cos they're aren't any!! that i've seen anyways. maybe if blackpool gets the go ahead for that las vegas style revamp they're after we could see massive jackpot fruitys over here. i know the gambling laws are already being relaxed.
hey when i was a lad a £3 jackpot was great lol (ok i lied i meant 12p on a 2p handle one lol)

TBH I'm perfectly happy with a pub [£25] JP, and would love a casino that would bascially just be a huge arcade filled with em, on £25JP. That may well sound really boring, but I'd rather play £25 JP machines all day then lose £75 in a £1000JP machine without a feature being offered
Having said that, I'm glad that we have Hi-tech Casino machines here, the ones in Las Vegas are basically just $1000 in quarters and pray!

yeah i know what ya mean. i play club machines a lot but the difference in how many times ya get on the feature between a £200 and a £250 is a pain sometimes. it must be worse on £1000 ones. £250 fruity, if it's a symbol one a lot of the time ya have to get 4 in view!! i went on Monty Python £250 and lost £30 without getting on the feature i got 3 dead parrots on the 1st 3 reels and thought the machine was knackered cos i got nowt!! so i tend to stick to just £200 jobs if i'm looking to push the boat out lol do play £25 bandits down my local though i don't bother going in actual arcades cos i don't trust them.

las vegas, my kind of town
i was in las vegas last may staying at the imperial palace right in the middle of the strip, its one of the older and cheaper hotels but right in the middle of all the action.
3 months earlie a women from norwich won $39,000,000,000 on the megabucks progresive fruity and its $3 a go.
there are 3 jackpots on the machine. $1 a go gets you $10,000 jp, $2 a go gets you $50,000 and the 3rd coin is only for the progresive. a great deal of the machines in every casino are linked so every $3rd coin that goes in is added to the major jp. the majority of the machines dont have any features so its coins in spin the reels and win or loose(mostly loose).
each casino has on average 1500 machines on each floor, and some hotels have 5-6 casinos. the smallest machines are 5c a go and these have a feature,(not as good as uk ) and you can still win up to $10,000
i went with £6,000 and was gambling 20 hours a day. all the machines pay out in coins up to $200 dollars then a bell above your machine rings and a couple of attendants come over and give you the rest in cash.
i won a small jp on the 25c machines. $5,000 on my last day so i was quite happy. i still came home £3,000 down but what a holiday.
heres a tip for any of you going this year...
when you book in to your casino, dump your bags in your room and get straight down to the casino. go and register for your free players card. the reason is every time you play you put your card in a slot at the front of the machine and then every coin you put in you get points added, and what do points make, prizes. after playing for 2 days you go back to the desk where you got the card and see what you can get. after checking i was offered 2 free buffet meals(all you can eat & drink) and a room upgrade to a suite.what a room, sunken jacuzi in the floor and a free bar, ok that was after loosing $2,000
also save some cash and go on the helicopter flight at night over the strip. pre book it in the uk & its only £40 including champaigne.
also the grand canyon. all i can say is wow! it cost $300 pick up at hotel taken to airport, plane to edge of canyon, helicopter to bottom of canyon, boat trip along colarado river, back up to top then a barbeque at an indian reservation then home. worth every penny...
im already booking up again for this year.
any questions im willing to answer for you. post back

Wasnt that women from Britain? I seem to remember it being on the news, something like she had put some money through it and thought sod it one more go then she rolled in the $39000000 Jp.
Bitch
I couldnt trust myself with vegas. My mates went to Vegas last year, one mate bing the t*at that he is put all his money on one bet as soon as they got there and won, then put it all on another and lost! We all had to put £100 in his bank account to help him through the rest of his stay.
He said the hookers are good though 8O

Not quite Las Vegas but I went to Casino Niagara two years ago and won $700 across a few machines. The best ones I found were the 25c five line machines, one of which I won $500 on. But as with all gambling, its relative, I lost $490 in a Calgary Casino in feburary, so it took the edge off my experience. Some of the machines you can play 45 line combos! (costs about $10 a go mind!) The Megabucks progressives are always worth a whirl, not worth trying to force though unless you are into selling your home, car, etc...

Hey guys and gals.
I've seen a few of the machines here in the states and they are all based on the same principles...three in a line. Usually the mechanical ones have few or no bonus games and the video slots (which are basically tv screens with slot machine programming) have some interesting games...The bonus games are theme based like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and some are simple like pick a balloon with a credit prize. Keep picking until you get nothing.
The progressive machines are what draw the crowds as you mentioned their jackpots can get extremely high. However, I feel the major problem with our machines is that the odds are NOT posted and they could be as low as the legal limit (if one exists) or could be really high with measly payouts.
Example: I took $40 to a machine and played 75 cents or 3 coins. I absolutely got nothing. No win, no bonus, not even a 1 or 2 coin sympathy win. Usually, at least with British and European machines, you might get a nudge, a bonus ?, or something to keep it interesting. US machines at their worst are just push a button and win or lose. Repeat ad nauseum.
On the other hand, after reading the Fair Play stuff and seriously playing some machines on here for hours on end, I can almost appreciate our machines. There are rarely, if ever, chances for you to lose any of your winnings. Once you hit, you are guaranteed some prize. Though I love the hi/lo chance, it gets pretty irritating once you find out that no matter what you choose you will automatically lose.
So, Stateside fruities have some huge jackpots and most of these machines are $1 or more per play. The lower cost progressives are of course with smaller jackpots. Machines are not marked with payouts but are regulated. They are mostly boring, except some of the new video machines.
There, I thought I would contribute a little.

Haven't been to vegas for a couple of years so can't comment on the
fully computerised ones, i.e cg display/animation etc. Don't know what
kind of features they have there but I doubt you will find *anything*
like you're used to in ole blighty.
I've talked to a few friends over here who've either been to vegas
off & on for several years, and one who lived there for a while. When
I mentioned things like super-hold/nudge/shuffle - the most basic
features the response was "wtf? never heard of that shht".
As I've said in other messages, there are a lot of "slots" over here
in the usa that stop between symbols so be warned. (Before you start
kicking the crap out of it because to us brits such a thing is [a] sacriledge
and [b] normally means the damn thing is broken)
As for wins, there is the cumulative jackpot. Also look at the machine
to see how many coins it pays for wins. (Most are 1-2 or 1-3 coins per
play with the most coins obviously for the max coins per play)
Depending on the size of wad you take with you, there's machines there
to satisfy how much you want to risk, from nickels (5cents aka approx 2p)
per play through to $500 (which have the 1-3 coins per play option!!!)
There is, of course, tax to be payed if you win over a certain amount,
so you will find some machines that pay 1199 coins. It may seem daft
but those machines are set that way so the jackpot is just under the
tax point.
With regards 'forcing' anything from them, I've never heard of anything
like that being possible. And, of course, trying to do things like spike/zap
them - I'd advise against it with all those cameras around.

if its your first time in vegas and you dont mind sitting with a load of grannies, you could always join in a fruit tourament so you can get used to the machines without loosing to much money. every hotel holds tournaments most days.
the idea is you pay a set fee to join. 50 machines are ropped off from the casino.you pick your machine and sit down. you are given 5000 credits.
when the buzzer sounds you press the play button as fast as you can for a set amount of time and the idea is to get the highest payout. sadly it doesnt pay out in cash but if you have the highest you get prizes, like hotel upgrades or free meals for the rest of your stay.
ive heard some tournaments do pay cash prizes upto $25,000. can anyone clarifie that for me.
