I have been unable to post to the shoutbox for a couple of days now. Has Toodles been too fast and loose with the ban button, or is it something else?

Meh..not me m8..i only ban the bad boys.
Tis wierd though cos a couple of weeks ago..i couldnt post in the SB with Firefox but i could post replies in the forums.
And with IE i could post in the SB but i couldnt post replies in the forum..or vice versa summat to that effect anyway.
All seems ok now though with IE can do both.

I type the post in and click submit. Until that point it all works fine. Then it just doesn't appear. I can type another shout and hit submit and I get the message that another shout is being processed, or somnething like that, but the first post never appears. I have tried about 5 shouts since toodles put up his crumbly comment, but none of them have appeared. I will get a screenie.

Thanks Duplu, but I will keep IE8 and just avoid the shout box. I really cannot believe IP Boards don't work with a browser used by a vast majority of the internet users in the world.

Try a different browser.
You could also try and upgrade your Java, but i would need to check if the Shoutbox actually uses Java
I think it uses Ajax.
Yeah BJ..you could try updating all the plugins that IE uses see if that makes a difference..have all these on mine and 'touch wood' IE seems to be running fine for a change.
Java http://www.filehippo...ownload_jre_32/
Silverlight http://www.filehippo...ad_silverlight/
Shockwave http://www.filehippo...load_shockwave/
Flashplayer http://www.filehippo...flashplayer_ie/
Hope this helps.

Thank you Duplu. Changing to Firefox worked, and it has been a revelation. It is so damned fast compared to IE8, which is about to be removed from my hard-drive.

hahaha you are joking right?
I think if they can sign-up and use a web page they will have the most basic knowledge of how to use a different browser!
PS The plug has 3 pins!....they may need to know that if they don't know theres different browsers.
This thread was elimination..

Working in the IT industry for so many years leads to my condition of "only change if you have to". I love Firefox now, but I bet it's like eating a kebab when drunk. When you sober up it can leave a nasty taste in your mouth.
