Does anybody know if u still get £2 worth of credit for an old 50p? :bigups: Because you could the last time i tried it, but with old 50pence pieces not exactly being in ABUNDANCE anylonger, its a few years since ive had one of these coins to be able to try it on the newer coin mechs.
Does anyone know if it still works or not?

Personally I wouldn't have thought this would have worked on any mechs made since the £2 coin came out :S

Just seems weird - I know lots of cashflow mechs that won't take REAL £2 [or even £1 coins] - so for it to take an old 50p would be madness!

I did however hear a rumour a while back about using African coinage in machines [honestly!] - some kind of African coin was being used in machines and was giving £2 of credit - I would assume that the real value of the coin would be about the 2p mark!

There were a lot of brass washers being passed off as £ coins a while ago,so anything is possible.

This is never a good idea as when they empty the machine they will realise what has been done and looking at CCTV footage will probably have a good idea who has done it. It is considered fraud and you will be doing time if they catch you.

I was aware of the old 10p and plumbers tape to make it give 50p on any vending machines about 10 years ago and obviously there are always going to be dodgy methods to steal money using these tricks. What it comes down to is are you really that desperate and is it really worth the risk???
