Hi, Sorry if the answer is already listed but I have honestly looked for the answer before posting this. It doesnt matter which working mfme versions I run for 777 heaven, line up etc, (barcrest mpu3 stuff and project coin,) but I have 3 laptops, 2 which give sound problems. My laptops are 1) windows 7, 2) Vista and 3) good old faithful XP which is the slowest machine. All three laptops run the emulation fine but the sound is awful on machines 1 and 2 (The good old XP is crystal clear) so what is going on? What I did notice was that if I turned off the throttle and set the CPU speed really low on the 7 and vista machines, the sound improved, but of course the game is far to slow.
Does anyone know how I can fix this as the xp laptop is due to be got rid of.
Thanks

looks like like you need to update your sound card git it here> http://drivers.softp...D-CARD/REALTEK/

the sound card drivers are the latest and no other program or app has this problem. As it appears to be a speed issue I was wondering if there is a throttle adjustment for the sound?

Try mfme 3.2 with the autothrottle on.see if that makes a differencethe sound card drivers are the latest and no other program or app has this problem. As it appears to be a speed issue I was wondering if there is a throttle adjustment for the sound?

Its your chipset/onboard audio driver thats causing the problems..its the exact same with mine.
Not sure what your chipset is..but mines is a Nvidia N-Force4 therefore to sort it i need the Nvidia chipset audio driver..which isnt compatible with Windows7..the only one that is at the moment is the Realtek AC-97 audio drivers..which are shit.
When i was on XP it worked fine..so i spose untill Nvidia bring out a compatible audio driver (which i dont think they will with my mobo chipset as its kinda old now) im stuck with it.

Aha, I'm glad i'm not the only one. I have conexant High Definition Audio on both machines that are giving the problem. Have you tried using a different driver yourself? I am reluctant to try to do that at the moment. I am wondering if in fact it is the sample rate being chopped too much when running on faster processors which has been overlooked?

Oh yeah...believe me when i say ive tried every driver i could find to try and resolve the issue lol..but Windows 7 just dosent want to know.
Depending on your mobo/chipset rev it may work with yours as i say mines is in the 'slighty older' cat .. so its not compatible..but ive read on the Nvidia forums other having success with it.
Spose its 'at your own risk' kinda thing if ye want to start messing about with different drivers..its never done 'anything bad' to my system apart from..it just didnt work.

If i can get the vista machine to work then I wont bother with windows 7. I was wondering though if there maybe a different emulator out there?

Synth sounds do not work correctly on Vista/7 based machine I'm afraid to say. Only XP plays synth sounds properly on the emulators that are available.

As ploggy has mentioned, this is a problem form all Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers. I have an old laptop running Windows XP and it sounds great.
I also have Windows XP Mode with my Windows 7 Professional, and when I play the sounds through that, they sound great too. Strange really, because my Windows XP mode is running through Windows 7! However, because Windows XP Mode has no hardware acceleration, the emulators play far too erratic to get a great gameplay on.
So it looks like we are having to put up with the awful Yamaha sounds and Project sounds on Windows Vista and Windows 7, unless a fix is released for it, which I doubt very much.
