Hi,

This is probably a really easy one for most, but it's my first machine and I've never replaced bulbs before! I've got a few that are out, and I had a look today but they're pushed inside this white plastic bit which covers the decals - do I just pull them out hard and push them back in to get to replace the actual bulb? I started to pull one out this morning (got it about half way), but because I wasn't sure what I was doing I pushed it back in, but now the bulbs around the bulb that I pulled out are not working (when they were previously).

Also, I assume I need 5mm bulbs for a front opening machine??

It's difficult and hard on the fingers I find to take the bulbs out lol....But to take them out..there's 2 steps.

First you have to take out the small round plastic bit that your bulb is pushed in to. Then, you have to take the bulb out of this small plastic bit. Change bulb, and put back in. The taking out part is a lot harder than the putting in part though

Thanks crazybar! Was just checking if it's meant to be that tough or if I was going to break it lol.

Any ideas what I've done to make the bulbs around that one go out then?? Thanks.

Might have just dragged some of the wiring out with it or something...Nothing to serious, just try and make sure it's all secure. I've had this problem before and a loose connection is normally the answer. Tellyou what, show us a picture of what we're dealing with and I'll advise better then

The bulbing and wiring on all machines is very fragile, just one loose wire can cause a huge chunk of bulbs to not work!

Here's some pictures. In the one of the outside, the bulbs in the trail that are not lit are the ones that stopped working after I messed it about.

Looks like the non-winged type bulb holders, like there was in my barcrest Super Blackjack Club

You will need a flat blade screwdriver, to press in the two tabs on the side of the holder.

As previousaly stated, can be fiddly to do, so what I have found best especaly when removing the bulbs, is to rock the bulb in the holder side to side, till it loosens enough to lift out.

Most bulbs are the clear 10 mm size (Though sometime, you may need the 5mm size, sometimes in coloured form), but whatever you do, do NOT use the 2.2 watt types often found in car dashboards, as the strength will weaken the plastic over time.

One seller I use on e-bay over in Burton, is pretty good for bulbs, which works out at around £13 per 100 delivered: http://shop.ebay.co....=&_trksid=p3686 If they do NOT have the bulbs you require on their e-bay site or you are unsure what size / colour you need, drop them a message, and they are pretty good at helping out.

When you pull out a bulbholder to replace a bulb the vibrations caused can cause nearby bulbs to blow as they are so delicate. Hope this answers your question. Steve.

Can vouch for this problem, when workshoping old machines this is a right royal pain, you replace one dead bulb and the adjacent ones go out and it never ends
have ended up using 1&1/2 packs of bulbs on a single machine !!
that's 150 bulbs on a machine that at 1st look only had about 20 out to start with.
