If it's this one by "crystal" then the answer is no as the roms don't run in any of the current emulators.Anyone close to emulating this machine.

Question is, can it be done?
Is this machine actually physically possible to emulate?
Or are we clutching at straws here.

We have the roms (with sounds). So if the protection can be cracked, you'll be able to see it. Let's hope that Guitar can do the business!

It can be done. The roms are encrypted, however they use an addon board, with no modification to the MPU4. So that means that by the time the data and addresses get to the MPU4 it has to be the right info.
So you can hook up a rom encryption board and read off the rom. There is the possibility of futher jiggery pokery, but to answer your question, yes its perfectly possible.

Just as long as an encryption board turns up, no worries. We may / may not need one for every machine.

Might be wrong but if you load the sounds in as m1a, you can at least play those. Been a while though, not 100%.

M1A and MPU4 use the same oki chip for sound iirc. Also Mpu3/4 and System83 all use the AY 8910/2/3 chip for synth too. Which is handy.
