right here we go,
got the above off fleabay for a tenner,so it dont stand me nowt!
advertised as working lights and reels spin--which they do!

BUT--it didnt go no further than that after startup.so after many minutes of checking the usual suspects..i checks the prom..AND ITS A TOP GEAR ONE..LMAO!


so..am i under the assumption..the poor old beast is gonna get WRECKED IMMINENTLY FOR SPARES..LOL


another query is .. who the hell are dje manufacturing.(before i assume,they went pop/sold out to a bigger firm)

Pretty sure you could get a rom burnt for this with the correct game (if the roms are available)

lol..i spotted that rom the other day funnily enough ady..did nab it...but still not sure if dje manufacturing/are/were part of barcrest..my brain says they were(tbc,lol)..but even then..i aint gonna waste a TOP GEAR ROM. ..so would have to scource another rom to burn on-then i aint got the burning know how..


note:while typing this i looked at the top gear rom label..and it said "barcrest"..so i AM assuming "same" company..LMAO...DOH!

The roms posted above are for the Barcrest, lo-tech machine with the same name so are not the right ones unfortunately. Bloody swizz buying a machine and finding different roms in it. How unlucky can you get!

That looks in pretty good nick, if i were you i would keep a look out for the program for the machine and sell it on, its a classic! im sure maybe someone could burn the roms off the repro onto some chips, would it work?

EHEM!!...ok everyone,try not to take the p**s too much (i,ll get me coat!)

first of all,cheers guitar,for making me inquisitive and check the rom!

first of all (see pics)..the labelled "top gear" rom..had a missing screw,so i thought,hey ho,and got a screw driver and undid the case,and inside,on the rom,lo and behold,different sticker...E.A..W..version 1.3..(i hate dodgy engineers..lol)..so it looks like the right rom after all..

ALTHOUGH..on startup..NOTHING..in alpha..lights do go on..one revolution of reels..sets to jackpot on reels,i might add..so it must set the reels ok?..but thats it..wont go into test mode/sequence.so its got an issue..which is where the fun starts...

by the way the rom "looks" mint..no bent pins,burns,or dry/flaked board

Lol, nice one. I did wonder as I have seen ROMs mislabelled many times before. If you want the rom dumping just in case you can send it to me if you dont have facilities.

Plus we can bung it in the emu and see hat *should* happen on startup. I'm guessing you have a dodgy alpha / mainboard. Take a look inside see if its got a battery leak.

Edit, I'm betting you have a leaky battery, setting to JP on startup usually means ram has reset, which is usually caused by a flat battery, flat batteries are old and chance of leakage is high, especially if its a blue ni-cad. Is there a CHR chip in the program card out of interest?

If it has leaked you can bung it my way for repair if you want.
