The reason most of these cases are successful is because small companies/individuals are bullied into paying up when perhaps it's not as black and white as it may seem. A bar stool collapsing could be extremely damaging to an individual, however where does the buck stop? Imagine you own a bar and you've splashed out on some good high quality bar stools. They look the DBs, seem like the DBs yet one collapses. Maybe the chap with the failing bar over the road had something to do with it? Maybe you paid out for quality pub furniture in good faith and in actual fact you were sold a dud. Is it fair you get chased for compensation?
If I get stung by a wasp and suffer a serious allergic reaction which causes me, a self employed worker to lose two days pay, who do I chase?
By all means chase if you've consulted your sense of empathy and still feel hard done by, go for it, but be aware these 'ambulance chasers' cause a hell of a lot of misery. Stirring, bullying and grabbing their greedy share.
If there's a genuine case, not just an opportunity to bully and scare someone into paying, then I urge you to hire an honest solicitor. It will benefit you as you will pay far less over all in % costs, depending on the assumed settlement.

Hence why a few years back when I ended up with an open arm fracture, after being knocked off me bike by a prick using his mobile whilst driving, and Derbyshire police wanting to do f all about it, I went direct to our family solicitor, and got them to deal with it.

In all truth, I wanted justice and the police to do their dam job, but after being let down by them, I had little other choice, then to go after the guys insurance.

Felt like an empty victory to me, and to this day, I am lucky to have just under a 1/3 of the original grip strength in my left hand.

When I spoke with the landlord today he was fine, he even said to get evidence ready. He said it is his insurance that's going to be paying out.

Is Nudgeman the reincarnation of the Sheriff of Nottingham? His posts have definitely got it in for poor Robin.

Small companies are not bullied into payment. It is the insurance firms that decide if compensation is justified, and will normally agree on an out of court settlement.

Anyway, I’m certain Robinhood will live up to his name, and will share any award with the poor and needy…..and I’ve no doubt his local landlord will be the first to benefit.

Yes indeed it may have seemed that way, although I hope no offence was caused. I just get the hump at political correctness gone mad. I'd also like to do an impression of a sample used in the Robin Hood machine, whilst giving out peace and love to the people of Gloucester.

"Friiaaaaaaaaaaaaar Tuck!"

There we are, that's better.
