I just got a letter from my ISP (BT Broadband) saying they have evidence I have been Distriputing unauthorised Copyrighted material using Protocol: Bit Torrent.
They say they will now take the appropriate steps under there Abuse Policy.
Looks like im in a lot of trouble, I strongly recommend you dont use Bit Torrent !!!!!!!!

Its kinda the same thing as winmx, only the downloads are listed on a website, after you choose what you want then it uses Bit Torrent to transfer the data, something like that anyway :?

lol..............f*** em.........
wat are they gonna do. its a load of crap......
first things first you should be using a program called peerguardian if you illegally distributing copyrighted files...so no one can see you ip....
secondly..... bittorrent is nothing like any otrher file sharing system...it is unique.........and safe if you know how to use it properly..............
you get maximum bandwidth from any file and all the latest films and music and absolutely anything you want.and from public forum based sites just like this one.................
the most bt will do is take you line away from you for internet........
and this comes from someone who works in an ip enviroment.....
wats happend is because you are sharing on the bittorrent files sharing network.........a big company like warner or 20th cent (if it was a film)
has gained your ip and comp to bt...who in turn have to send a letter.........
i have had 5 of these letters.and see were they are generated from..its shite..............
in the uk were are leggaly allowed to own one backup.........
even though it must be destroyed with a set time ... this allows for you to preveiw b4 you buy....
so if you still got you connection....fuk em......carry on.bnut do it safely this usin a client that has built in protection..........(abc/azureus is good)
or get PEER GUARDIAN .......
and happy downloading...................lol

wow, what a relief, The only evidence they have is my IP address, and the letter is copy of one that was sent to BT from 'The Motion Picture Association' (MPA)
So all I need is this PEER GUARDIAN thingy?
Thanks madman 8) My heart is beating at the normal rate again

can even email my isp email addy which launches my client via pop3 so when i get home the file is there for me.lol
bittorrent kicks any form of p2p ass.and will reign supreme in years to come as THE p2p app......
don,t woory bout shitty letters from isp,s ie bt...look at there tv ad
"Download all the latest movies and music"
they want you to download and have access..as it sells bb for em...........
whats the use of a 2-3 meg connection...cos u dont need it for browsing or gettin the odd legal mp3 or film trailer..........
its for battering the hell outta bittorrent............

Good old BT.....anyone who joins up for £19.99 BB with them needs their head checking out - 1GB per month cap!
I mean, thats less than HALF of the Kill Bill 2 TCR 3 SVCD set that I downloaded in 1 day with me Pipex 576kbit - no download caps at all
Ooooh...given the context of the thread, I probably shouldn't have mentioned that

Yea but PC gamer and other companies that disturbute it must know what is on the web-site and what you can download. :?

I think what causes problems is that [from what I remember], 60% of all internet traffic is a combination of BitTorrent and KaZaA - thats a lot of traffic :O
The ISPs can't afford for people to keep this amount of traffic up, and so don't be surprised if more bandwidth caps come into effect soon - NTL and 1GB per day was ok, but 1GB per MONTH?
Trust me, leave BT ASAP - I could recommend many, cheaper and more efficient companies to serve you your sizzling hot DivXs :D

Hang on, lets just get something clear -
BitTorrent = Legal file sharing tool,
SuprNova = Illegal use of legal file sharing tool

If I rember right Kazza was made legal because they're not responsible for how you use it and what you choose to download,
Anyway, How exactly was my IP obtained in the first place? How did they find out I used Bit Torrent, pffffff I call that an infringement of MY privacy
And BT know sites like supernova excist so why dont they prevent access to them like 'The Motion Picture Association' ask them to?
I haven't heard a word from BT yet, they have no idea as to what I downloaded (I think) All they know as that I used Bit Torrent.
And yeah 1GB per month is a joke, I mean 12 GB a year??? I use that in a week

With respect to bit torrent, the torrents aren't illegal, it's the files that are transported between people that are. Therefore the torrents hosters are clear. Just like the fruit machine emulator is legal but hey......

I have used BiTtorrent & PeerGuardian for 6 month`s now,,,,2 great proggies but used in the correct way,,,,,,if you like what you download BUY IT,,,,,if not burn what you download onto disk & delete it from your hdd A.S.A.P. & bin it if its no good,,,,I have had no probs so far & will continue to use it as long as its available
P.S. the best proggy I`ve ever used for speeds & UNFALSE files 8)
P.P.s I think all these companies should be SUED for hacking into our P.C.`s coz if we do it to them they say its a breach of there rights!!!!!!!!!!!! :?

From what I understand BT are not aloud to forward my details onto M.P.A because it is illegal to do so under the Data Protection Act. But that may soon change. All I got from BT was one sentence saying "Please find enclosed a Take Down Notce from The Motion Picture Association" BT dont seem to care less, they didn't even ask me to stop using Bit Torrent.
