Looking around the stores, theres stacks of razors available. Most now coming with just a single blade. Others with trimmers but at the end of the day, they are primarily wet shave razors meant to keep your face clear of hair that causes all sorts of problems with the girlfriend ;>)

When I'm almost out of blades, I'm confronted with stupid prices for replacement cartridges. The best part of a tenner for 4, or if I've won on the lottery, I can shell out £20 for 15 and a new razor, saving £12 apparently. It's always a good idea to shop around and almost all the time, I'll buy another promotional set (RAZOR + 2 BLADES ect...)

So how long does a set of blades usually last? When I was younger, I could get a month out of a single blade. Now with a daily shave, I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 days of smooth shaving before the blade is blunt enough for a shave to be uncomfortable. Yes, my razor has 23 blades and a massager for my scrotum, but when they are asking for stupid money for replacement cartridges, I'd expect a little value. So for me, I'm running through more than 1 cartridge a week. Cost for 4 Wilkinsons HYDRO 5 blades is £8. Am I asking too much of my razor blades?

What blades do you use?
How long do they last?

I stick to the Gillete Sensor Excel sort (2 or 3 blade versions), due to skin problems, and the blades last well, and they also come in the disposable range, which ironically use the same carts, and often I have got these as they are cheaper, and the carts will fit the other razor.

Also if needs be, you can use the ASDA 2 / 3 blade equivalent carts, which are slightly cheaper, and do just as good as job. Boots also do carts to fit too.

One important thing though, is a good quality shave gel / foam, and there I do splash out on King Of Shaves range, normally the menthol one.

One I will never touch, is the Wilkinson Sword range, especially the wire guard sort, as they are shite after two tries.

I use a Gillette Fusion, nice wet shave razor.
Like you said, eats the cash in your pocket for a new set of cartriges.
The old buy a cheap printer trick, then find out the ink to refil it is exspensive.
They saw us comming... Bah !

One blade lasts about five days. FYI
