Personally I enjoyed the £8 token days cos I would end up with loads of tokens and then just play 4 cash wins.
The £10 jackie take your pick and various other ten pound Barcrests are my fav's.

Since I got Spiker working by twa**ing it, I decided to put it up to £25/70%/25p to recover some of the cash I used up buying my laptop.....I honestly can't believe how, until about a year ago, £25 machines were on 70% [90% of local ones are now on 78%)
.....Personally I had nothing wrong with £15 / 25p /74>78%, I however used to run my Each Way Nudge on £10 / 20p / 84% - it still made loads of money, but people do not understand that below say 74% there is little if any true-skill, and below 78% I NEVER had an IM - above 78% they happen as and when necessary.
So.....I liked £10 / 20p / 78%....................but I also really enjoyed Barcrests period in the early 90s, [although I am only 18!], where machines just moved up to £6JP, 20p...........It was basically pocket money by todays standards, and doubling your money was common! Unlike modern Barcrests, say, where a skill nudge is indicated by 'CHEAT!!!!!!!!!' on the Alpha [which is almost embarrassing, given that I've seen people not hold cancel on skill stuff before], whereby EVERYONE knows how to 'work' the machine, on machines like Andy £6JP you saw the last of the 'proper' skill gambles vanish.........
I'm sure people will disagree with this, but that shows what FME is about, surely?
I think that the early 90s MPU4 are great, when I honestly, after a little experimentation, realised that on old machines [MPU3 1980s], you HAD to know the reel layouts - these days they are stuck on the machine, as though they want you to believe you stand a chance
After all of that crap. here we go :
3) £15JP, 25p, 78%
2) £10JP, 20p, 78%
and in number one,
1) £6JP [£4.80 Cash common > £6 Tokens], 20p, 70>78%........
Surely machines in pubs are about passing time and hopefully paying for beer?
The machines I've emptied recently have streaked for £75+....which AFAIK is a club machine in disguise for a pub -
If £25 had no repeat, I would be much happier - take the FireCracker for JPeMu as an example -
I love the machine, but I got [within £5], £25 non IM, £25 IM, £25 IM, £25 non IM.....................that makes a £100 JP by my logic. Call it a streak but it means that addicts are being ripped off to line one mans pockets

I seemed to win most and get more play time fron the 20p/£8 tokens. I also like the way it altered your play style, amass a load of tokens and then try to convert them 1-1 or better for cash. The 20p/£10 cash were okey too, especially when they first came out. 5p/£6 machines could be very profitable too, I especially liked bulleyes with its £2.40 repeat in the middle, Once had three consecutive machines give me about £12-20 each off the middle feature, that was an awful lot of money to me in them days. Amazing how one big win obliterates the memory of 20 losses lol. thats nostalgia for you.
I just wish companies would get it into their head that if a machine makes its money off percentage it doesn't matter how high the jackpot is, you make the same amount of money. Small Jp's mean a more fun game.
I tend to stick to older 5p/£6 machines these days since i play for fun since i stopped gambling. Not even bothered if i lose the £20 i go down to the arcades with maybe 3 times a year. I just try to get credit time, to play until i get bored. The only thing that annoys with older machines is they are more likely to have missing lamps , sticky buttons etc. Hehe I remember feeling very proud on cludeos line-up when I not only spotted the murderer each time but was also able to detect the minute pause when Miss Scarlet failed to light up lol. But as usuall I have digressed 8)

I would have to put 25p/£15 at number one. These machines, in my humble opinion, balance reasonable returns with the fun factor. I used to enjoy playing them whether I won or lost (especially if I won).
Coming in second would have to be the 20p/£4.80 machines of the mid eighties. I think this was their hey-day, as there were so many different layouts and ways to play.
A close third would have to be the 10p/£3 machines from the early eighties. Not much to say really except 'Line Up' - the daddy of them all.

25p or 30p £15pd jackpot were the best in my opinion. Good play & a decent profit if you could get a run off them. Definitely my heyday. They put the new machines to shame.
