I've just bought one of these little beasties (In my opinion the greatest machine ever made but I'm sure many of you will disagree). Anyway, it's come set up at 25quid jackpot, 78% payout. I'm new to all this so I wanna know a)How easy is it to change the payout %'ge? b)How easy is it to change the stake/jackpot? and c)It doesn't come with artwork for when the jackpot is altered, is there anywhere I can get this?

Cheers!

Nothing wrong with Jackpoteers, only played it seriously for the first time about 2 weeks ago, managed £107 out :)

Easiest way to answer your questions is with pictures :)

There is a picture of the actual MPU5 board below - it may be mounted the other way up in your machine, mine appears to be upside down :O

You should be able to see this board - when you lift the front of the cabinet up, it will be behind the reels, mounted on the back of the machine.

Notice the Blue panel - the top of it says 'Stakes and Prizes'. There is a 9pin serial port to the left, into which you can put different 'key' - a key is a just plug that is set to a certain stake and prize - the gray one in the picture is from Spiker, and is 25p / £25. To change stake and prize, you need to change the key, UNLESS you have a key which looks like that in my second picture - with 8 little switches on it. If you have one of those, you can select any stake and jackpot - otherwise you need to buy a new key [and you may as well get a switchable one!]

When you change the stake and prize, there are several combinations :

£25 @ 30/25p
£15 @ 30/25/20p
£5 @ 30p/25p/20p/10p/5p

You may be able to set it to £8 or £10 as well depending on machine, but these are the main ones. You will need the Decals which slide behind the glass on the machine tio display the correct prizes on the front glass [I say 'need', I usually don't bother or knock them up in photoshop for my personal machines :)]

To buy decals will cost between £25 and £50 a set, depending on availability, machine, age and condition. And supplier, some just like to rip you off!

As for percentage, you see the red block on the MPU5 next to the words '% KEY' on the blue label? That has 4 switches on top, and allows you to change percentages between 70% and 98% in 2% steps - you can change to ODD number %ages using a dip switch but I don't see the point so won't cover that here!

If you have one of these %age keys with 4 switches on, you can flick between percentages simply by knocking the switches back and forth in different positions, but I can get a list if you need one.

Same applies for the Variable stake and prize key - the one with 8 switches, I can try get you a list of the settings if you need one, although I just spent 1 hour messing around and worked them out :)

If you need any more help on maintenance, e.t.c, don't hesitate to ask :)

OK, I get all of that, thanks mate. Only thing is, where do I get these "keys" from as they ain't with the machine? And what suppliers sell the different artwork so I can see how much it costs? Although 25 quid for a few bits of paper, I might not bother :)

Hmmm....best places to look would be eBay, just search for 'stake key', 'prize key', or if that gets no results, navigate to

PC and Video Gaming, Coin Operated, Fruit Machine [they have their own section now!]

If that doesn't work, they can be bought from

www.selectamuse.com
www.cmjsleisure.com

I'd search on Google for Fruit Machine Spares or similar to get some more sites too, but at least thats a start. Same for the decals, try giving those sites a try.

hello mate

if you dont win the auctions or you would prefer to buy from a professional :D :p

give me a pm because i have an unlimited supply of %keys and stakes and prizes keys.

you might struggle with the decals for the artwork though because they are getting quite scarce now.
