I just came across fruit-emu today and it's a great site but I'm in the states. Anyone know if there are any roms & emulations of american slot machines? Is there some kind of legal issue with slot emulations for american games.. I seem to find a ton of info on UK games but nothing for the US. Anyone have any links to US based slot info?

Most of the coders are British, so they only emulate things that interest them.
If you could get an american emulator author involved with the scene, good luck to you (I've been trying for ages)

I doubt it's something that's really been thought of over here considering the 'style' of slots that have been around, i.e. pre computer graphics stuff. (not including video poker obviously). But, given the states "love" for legislation I'm sure there is likely to be something out there somewhere - and you can bet if there isn't, as soon as someone makes an emu there will be. God bless America. lol.
(Tries to remember a quote - something like 10% of the worlds population in America, and 90% of the worlds lawyers) :-)
Besides, what is the fun in something that stops between symbols? To Brits that sounds like flaky/broken hi-lo reels.

I'm not a big fan of the American machines either. Most of them are just plain boring compared to the British Machines. I would like to see if anyone knows about Spanish machines ROMS and emulations. I know that Barcrest made some export machines for the Spanish market and one of the companies made a machine called Metropolis which was similar to monopoly but you would go around amassing money at each stop, no jackpot limit, until you got to the Peaje (tollway) or some other nasty "?" space. That was my favorite machine along with their version of Snakes and Ladders which is now Euro-Tobogan. I can't seem to find anything in Spanish about them or on any emulation sites.
Any suggestions?

I'd love to see American gamblers come face to face with features we've had on our fruities for decades, even ye olde NudgeNow/RespinNow or Up & Down Nudging.
Just talking to a couple of friends over here about some of the simple features gets a :yellow-c: :yellow-q: :yellow-c: :yellow-q:
Try to explain it more, without an emu and you can watch their brain.... :microwav:
Comparing American machines to UK ones is like :mountain: vs. :motor:
I think until recently, American machines, despite some of the manufacturers being u.s. branches of the same companies, have been designed "crap" because of their simplistic (and wallet-raping) nature.

Eddiec,
You're right. We Americans would have no clue what to do with those machines. I've shown some of the emulations to some of my friends who go to play slots often in Louisiana and Las Vegas and they just sit there and cannot even play the first set of nudges or hi/lo. British machine types would be fun to place in a casino to see how many people actually fall for the hi/lo scheme that is always causing players to lose (going lo on an 11 and always getting a 12). It would be pure comedy watching their reactions. I think the main reason we don't see the British or for that matter any other type of slot machine beyond what we have is that these machines go on pure volume of play. Whereas I could spend 5 minutes in a upper game, that would be 100 or so spins on a regular American machine. I doubt this will ever change. If only I could bring a few fruit machines back to my flat (at least one) to keep me entertained...

Did the same to an ex-roomie who lived in Vegas for a couple of years. He gave up and went to play Command & Conquer. lol.

You'd get a few curious people but once they got the features they'd probably give up. (Actually, i've just realised there is a + for casinos that England doesn't have in its arcades... casinos have age-limits so you won't end up with hordes of kids telling you "do this, press that" etc etc - oh, and expecting a % of the winnings)

I agree, pretty much. That's why they have machines linked to a huge jackpot that may not pay out for over a year. (And think how much has been fed into those things in that period!) I also think that the manufs/designers class the players as somewhat brain-dead/clueless which is why they keep it simple, but the major factor is the "feed me seymour" factor.
Whereas I could spend 5 minutes in a upper game, that would be 100 or so spins on a regular American machine.
Right, especially when some of the games are $1-$100 per spin and you can play up to 3 "coins" at once - or, one of the recent video slots I heard about where you can play up to 15 "coins" at once. (a) That's nuts and ( highlights perfectly how much they are going to take you for. You might as well just go to one of those licensed brothels - am sure you'd get more fun.

Don’t think for a minute I am being anti American, you gave us lots of things like McDonalds, Burger King and KFC to name at least 3. Americans have a culture for suing people.
If Americans sue fast food companies for getting fat and cigarette companies for getting cancer, it would take a brave man (or women) to make an American fruit machine emulator to emulate their fruit machines..
If you are interested in similar machines to Vegas stick to Bar X (Granny Bingo) style machines like – 777 Heaven, Cloud 999, etc - Very Lo Tech and simple - have a look in the MPU3/4 section of this site.

Whilst I have come across some nice Americans, and some clever ones, in general in my dealings with them I am suprised the vast majority of Americans have the brain power to actually understand the concept of pressing a start button......(and I am not joking, they are in general (remember there ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE) the thickest country I have dealt with in general, and I have dealt with many people from many countries on ebay).
No offence to any American that made it to the forums, you obviously dont fall into the same category

...I don't think American machines have 'hi-lo' or anything similar, they probably wouldn't be at ease with the concept.
Notice I didn't say anything like ignorant, stupid or moronic in the above post

They dont have any kind of gamble function on their machines as ALL of their machines are random by law.
If you add any kind of feature that the player has control over (this includes hi los, cash gambles and etc) then the machine CANNOT be true random and would be against the law.
I also find it hard to believe that people slate America when the UK is firmly crawled up the US's arsehole aswell..
Trust me, the only dumb idiotic and moronic people out there are the ones still playing AWPS, and none of them are american

Maybe people are just thinking that all americans are like the stereotypes you see portraid on television. I mean that comedy show with the dumb texan cowboy president who made all them hilarious gaffs in speeches. He can't really have been voted for by millions of people to be in charge of the worlds biggest nuclear arsenal... surely not?
