I have recently bought a crystal maze machine, but more often than not, when the machine is powered up and the reels spin, the machine switches off and back on again, and keeps on doing this. Has anyone experienced a problem like this? I think something has become loose in transportation, as the last owner ( a friend) promises it did not do this before. could someone please help me with this problem, and advise me which components to check, cheers, Ivan.
i am not really sure what is wrong with it but i would suggest you check all the fuses to see that they are firmly fastened in (they are on top of the power supply which is normally located in the very bottom of the machine), if one or more of these are loose it could well be causing that problem.
try making sure that the program card (the one which plugs into the main board) is plugged in properly. If it is then it will more than likely mean that your power supply is buggered
This could possibly be a short somewhere, maybe a stray coin or screw, the power supplys incoraparate thermal / protective cutouts, is it a second or 2 before it goes off?
I had a similar problem a few years back with my JPM Fairground. (sys 5)ON power up the power would appear to cut and the machine would restart. Once it did start it usually played fine until after a win, a feature. Upon pressing start the power was cut and the machine reset. The fault was not with the power supply as it worked fine. It was with a processor tucked into ther main board that had to be replaced and it worked fine until i sold it in April. Maybe that is the problem. It was faulty when i bought it so a certain company in Glasgow came and took it away to fix it. It was away for a week and never away again in 2years. So maybe it's a processor fault, although don't expect me to know which processor chip as i dont have a clue when it comes to things on the boards.
