Do we owe anyone anything...eg postage or petrol costs?

Its going be postage ady as 6 is to far to drive to colect we will ave to wait until 6 has some costings

Hi Todd

Thanks I could cirtainly do with you some new Ultra IDE cables as the one i have have been well battered about so this could indeed be part of the issue. My main Board only has 2 ram slots on it i think normal DDR but i will have to look when i get home at the moment i am useing 2 x 256mb chips for a nice half gig of memory.

Its got me this time it just wont boot i have even tryed booting it with just the one HDD 2 DVDs and all USB devices disconnected just incase it was a power issue but it just will not boot i even tryed to boot it with all of the onboard systems disabled, and i attempted to boot from my RAID card as well it just will not boot at all i am scratching my head with this one and i am an IT tech hope the boss is not follwing this thread lol

I can confirm i will still need the IDE cables and if you have a vid card in your box of goodies dont need to be anything flash this would also be helpful

Its a TV card i have Cliff..dont have any spare Graphics Cards..but your welcome to all the IDE cables i can find ?

Hi

Time for an update the pc has arrived and i now installed all the hardware inside the case however the buikt in vid card as was tolt to me by HT6 has a fult and its only showing blue and white which makes working on the machine hard so i am now in the process of updating the pc then i will add log mne in so i can work on the main machine via my lappy, this is going to take a while once i have some spair funds i will but a vid card for it so i can see the pritty colours, in the mean time once i have the machine updated i have to try and remember which backup software i used to create the back ups so i can restore the repro backups, i only need to replace the progam and user accounts as the data was stored on a sepreate drive and this has not been effective.

|T would like once again to thank HT6 for his genrous donation which turene out even better than i was expecting as it contains 2 x SATA and 2 X pata connectors so this means all the drives from the old computer can be used in the new one.

Latest upddate on the repro I have some good news and some bad news.

First the good news the wonderful Mrs Cliffc said i could have my Birthday pressy early at the weekend so I now have a nice AGP Radion Vid card in the new PC so the screen is now all the right colours.

The bad news is that since I did put the machine together for some reason the drive that held the data for the repro has unfortuantly gone tits up so now i will have to restore the both the program and the data.

So where we are at this point, the machine is now running ok and all of the relivenat updates and patches have been installed, so the next job is search through all of my programs to see if i can find the back up software is used and then reinstall it on the pc, then I will need to restore all of the data it took over 24 hours to back up so i am assuming its going to take about the same to put it all back however the new pc is faster than the old one so this may be faster, as soon as this is done the repro will be back on line.

The backup will not restore and as the drive that had all of the repro stuff on it has died or at least seems to have I have no way of getting alot of the data back the server software will have to be reinsatlled, i think i am useing the correct backup software and its keeps saying that i cannot restore it because its not reged, I have looked and the sw is showing as regged so i dont know if the software that was installed that created the backup was not regged and this is stopping it restoreing i am still working on it though but obviously this means that the repro may be a little longer than i thought but i promice it will be back as soon as i possibly can

It's a true saying,you don't miss something until it's gone. Ever since you've been off line I've been in dire need to get on. Anyway, this may seem obvious, and you may have already attempted or considered it, but have you tried hooking up your hard drive as a slave to the new one, then seeing if you can move or copy the data to the master.

Hi jim

I cannot do this as the backup is not a image type back up its in a compressed format used by the backup software so the only way it can be restored is with the software nightmare, I can see all the folders and i can see zip files in them but if you open the zip files theres nothing in them i am working hard at getting back on line ASAP though.

Sorry i missed this post Cliff..do you now have everything you need..when i was looking through my goodie box i did find IDE cables..they are pretty gubbed but would probably still work ?

Or do you now have a fully functional system when its up and running that is.

New update once again i have the good news and the bad news

The good i have manage to get the backup to restore fine so all repre goodies are now back on drive g where thay live

The bad news while trying a cough patch for easy file shareing web server as the working one i had was on the drive with the repro stuff that went tits up it screwed windows again however and i could not do a system restore so i am now having to reintall windows again the good news this time its worked so i should have all the patches drivers service packs ect back on in a few days and then i can restore the c drive stuff from the backup then install a working cough patch for the server software ho happy happy joy joy lol

Hi All

Repro update number 399 the PC has now been fully restored to working state after the Easy File Sharing Web server cough linctus screwed the windows installaton, I am still looking for a working Cough fix for this, once i have this I need to make sure that all is fully working at the moment the system is detecting all of the drives but thay are not all showing up in windows I am thinking this must be a jumper thing so I need to look at that then i am going to use a good free backup software so i want to back up all the data before i put the repro back on line, but rest assured all your repro fans I am working hard to get it back up and running ASAP.

Hi All

Ok as today is my Birthday (i am 50 please dont spread this info about). I thought it was time for another update, the position is now this, I have got the PC working 100% stable again, however I cannot find working cough cure for the server software, this menas it will only run for 30 mins then stop working not good obvioulsy, this means it looks like i am going to have to bire the bullit and get a proper licence to prevent such issues happening again, however at this moment in time i cannot afford the licence cost, i have had the offer of a donation from a user at the mecca so i amy be able to get up and running again soon.
