BIT OF BACKGROUND FIRST>>>>>
i was originally a member of the scene many moons ago................
i left cos of constant bickering on another forum..
i decided to rejoin the community.and this time try and give something back......ok.it was 2 dx,s.not much.but different ...
my first layout was pulled to peices by a website which was hacked......
this websites reveiweres had to hide there identity.pissed me off....people doing there first dx had no chance of actually learning as they EXPECTED the layout to be perfect........the website in my opinion was a joke....and i am not surprised it was taken out..
bickering even though has never gone away is more prevelant on more forums again...and also i am now getting virus,s sent to my email addyy......for a layout i done.. PARTYTIME.
including someone who can not spell correctly attempting to threaten me....so..i am still doing dx,s.but for me and me only..........
if this is what a fan site is gonna do for me and my pc,s health............
then its time to leave.i have other projects at hand anyways......
i will still be here..looking in.but will never post again...........
thanx for the site...which is in my opinion..the best.and everyone i know.
BYE.....................madman.............................

sorry to see you go mate....
But ive sussed out the only standards you have to meet are youre own....
As long as your happy with what youve done thats all that counts.
Bickering and fighting are part of normal everyday things wether at home or work or on the forums....it doesnt mean shit unless you let it get to you.
but when i feel things are getting to me i click the button and do something a little less stressful......like rock climbing..or drinking..particulary drinking....
all the best in whatever you put your hand to...and hopefullly we shall see a return.

Ive seen peoples work get torn to pieces on "reviews", even if it is there first effort. This is wrong & is hardly giving encouragement to others who fancied a go. A friend of mine had a go once & i very much doubt he will be trying it again. More trouble than its worth.
Shame really.
Sorry to see you go Madman.

Madman,
It is always sad to see people leave the FME scene. It has changed alot since it started out, standards have been raised and people are now being spoiled.
This is not a bad thing but makes starting out a nightmare, people are all to quick to say layouts are rubbish.
In my book a layout is a layout and has show someone has been bothered to put some effort into making one and then release that to others to share.
I thankyou for your contribution on the scene, and I am sorry to see you leave. Nice to see that at least you will be still hanging around. Thanks for your comments about this site, its always nice to see our efforts in running this site are worthwile.

If this is what FME is coming to, it is a very bad job. To be sent viruses and to be threatened, when all you are doing is contributing in some way to help the FME scene is not just bad, it is sickening.
I know that things have been getting pretty rough on the scene again, but to resort to dirty tricks, and malicious acts makes me wonder whether people are taking themselves too seriously in all this. when I found the FME scene 2 1/2 years ago, it was a breath of fresh air to see everyone wanting to make a success of Fruit Machine Emulation. Now it seems that the air has gone pretty stale, especially having threats sent to FME scene members and damage sent to member's computers.
I wish you well Madman in all that you do in the future mate, and I am glad to see that you shall still be sticking around, but I am sorry for the people who wish ill of you. They don't deserve to be on the scene and are giving it a bad name in general to us all.

That's sad- at the end of the day there was nothing wrong with your 'Club Partytime' effort - maybe the people who sent you viruses were people who just 'leech' this website and thought that the negative comments people made about your Partytime before it was released were malicious and this was them trying to make a big entrance. I think you should post the email addresses and shame all those involved so they can be barred from the site.

Madman. Get your arse back here now!
Seriously though, to leave this place is to admit defeat. Don't let things eat you up. this is a hobby. Something we all enjoy. There will always be things that take away the shine but we must face them and overcome them.
To leave is to take the easy route. To cop out. To admit defeat.
You should be defiant and pushing to better yourself. To prove all the doubters wrong.
Balls in your court mate. Don't let anyone beat you.

So many things came to a head yesterday Hurty mate. I had a few beers and did some thinking and decided I'd had enough.
After some friendly and presuasive words from others, I've decided to be on the scene from strictly a banter point of view. What that means is I could well vanish without trace for days or maybe weeks on end and become an FME free dude for most parts.
I don't think i could leave the scene. I'm too bloody inquisitive. Too blinking nosey. But spending more time with the missus and maybe going out to get rat-arsed instead of staying in to do it seems like a pretty good alternative.

No...No...This won't do at all!!
Hello - I have been a frequent visitor to this website since accidentally coming across it at the end of last year.
I have happily downloaded the free emulations and enjoyed reading the forums - especially in regard to the 1980's machines.
The board has seemed to be balanced in such a way that I had little to add to discussions, so haven't felt the need to make a post......until now.
Speaking as a lurker/downloader, I have to totally agree with the reply that said that us downloaders have been spoiled by the quality of some of the downloads available and expect this all the time.
I myself have no skill in any area of emu/rom creation and probably have absolutely no idea of the exact amount of time and effort taken to create the smallest part of a fruit machine emulation - but I know it must be alot,(my god - it takes me a hour or so to type a good letter!).
If the critical virus sender falls into the same 'downloader' catagory as myself - I would like to point out that most, if not all of the emu creators involved give us the fruits (no pun) of their work, (considerable time spentwhen many of the rest of us are in the pub or asleep) absolutely free of charge.
All they ask in return is a little bit of honest feedback/criticism - why? - so they can improve their work to provide more downloads for us! Why the need to be spiteful? or destructive? If you don't like the work involved you are more than welcome not to download anything else and sod off to the free porn sites.
I appreciate every download made available - simply because I miss the machines and you cannot get them from anywhere else. Unfairly slagging off the creators isn't going to achieve any positive result. To do what they do must mean they have intelligence - and any intelligent person isn't going to waste valuable time and effort only to be attacked and ridiculed.
This type of honest thread is a truely terrible thing not just for the creative community that have been quick to respond - but for the ever growing number of grateful downloaders that wouldn't know how to start an emulation if our lives depended on it!
If all the hardworking creators like the 2 mentioned above feel there is no support for there efforts simply because us downloaders are used to the internet being full of quality downloads for free, then it is a sad day because eventually it will all fall apart and we all lose.
I hope the 2 designers do understand that for every ungrateful tosser, there are a 100 or so quietly enjoying the fruits of their work and maybe it is time we spoke up and said so.
Here endeth the sermon.

I'd like to know the muppet who sent you the viruses.. After all with a little background work i could give duplu what he needs to know to bar the person from accessing the site..
Even if HE did try and change to another username it wouldnt work so take it as for what he has done he will now be stopped from getting any files from Fruit Emu...
So give me the email address or forward me one via pm and i will sort the rest out..

I would also like to add my two pennerth (is that how you spell it???). Whilst I admit that all the slagging off must be soul destroying at times, sctravis has made avalid point. There are 100's of people out there who are extremely grateful (me among them) for the time and effort the designers have put into their layouts. For me especially, I love the Barcrest layouts from the 80's - machines which I thought had gone forever are still accessible and playable not just some poor quality photograph. I have often thought of giving it a go myself, but having gone into edit mode - just for a nosey - I can see the amount of work that goes into this. To some up, you only have to look at the download figures for each layout to realise how thankful people are.

i would just like to say that there are certain viruses going about the internet that can read a persons address book and automatically send themself to everybody on it,and can make it look like the address book owner had.
so basically i would not be as quick to say it is malicious until i had done a bit of research on the actual virus sent. if you do the research and it is not a virus that can spread in that particular way THEN i would suggest sending the address to pgamblin.

the person who sent it does not know who i work for obviously........
(blueyonder tech support)
the email was sent via web mail.not host to a machine..........
but i know who done this anyways.........it does tend too stick out a little bit.especially if you frequent poundrun.and look at a member there who was on here as well....now deleted thank god...
