I've got a Rocky Horror (BWB) machine which is Barcrest MPU4 and I've noticed that all the lights on the machine seem to flicker when certain other non-related things occur; eg when each reel stops the feature board, which is lit throughout the game flicks.
I'm sure this probably means that something is on the way out... but what?

Nope thats the way the lamps are on bwb and most other machines. Is it just a slight very fast flicker? If so then thats normal take a look at guitars video of my bwb redhot fever.

Lamp flicker, can be a sign of the main caps in the PSU are on their way out (The big 25v and 63v ones in MPU4's are well known for this).
This is most noticeable, when watching the machine in attract mode, or when playing some of the features on the machine, that runs loads of lamps at any one given time.
You will need to crack open the PSU, and check the two very large caps (They are normally black or blue, and will have 25v and 63v stamped on them), and see if there are any signs of the tops bulging at all, and replace as needed, with ones sourced from e-bay.
