Hi all...sorry.. bit off topic but has anyone been able to download the service pack 2 for windows XP?..ive been to microsoft's website hunners of times and it just tells me to turn on my automatic updates.

Has it actually been released yet or will it be getting released soon.Also if anyone has downloaded and installed it is it any good?..or not worth bothering about.

Any replies would be most welcome

I had the update message too Cloud...But at between 75-266mb's I think i'll wait till the BB's back on!!!........

I would bother to be honest, why does MS have so many updates?.......Because it releases so many 'unfinished' new OP sytems with more floors than the Empire State!!....A hackers dream in it's raw state is our XP!

That's the full Monty though Hurtand.......Depending on what SP1 already gave you it can be reduced quite a lot...........

Anyway here's to SP72..............A mere 229gb.........

as far as i can make out from that website all of this update pack is new.

its suposed to improve the speed of your pc as well as add security to the os, it apparently speeds up ie also.

I went by this Hurtand..............anyway if it's 26 or 266mb's it shouldn't happen if a little more time was spent on the security of the original release.

Ady.. the new service pack is well worth the download. it speeded my pc up for starters and stops hackers and shit messing with your pc.

From a buisness point of view its essential and i would recommend it to everyone even if you only go online for email..

Well thats my opinion but since i got the service pack about 3 months ago my machine has been better than ever before

Well when I turn my PC on I get a list of possible versions, favourites being the XP 'Music Pirate' editions and the 'Sushi' edition, complete with a picture of that bloody Disney clown fish....oh yeah, Nemo

Doubt if they would work under SP2 so I'll stick with SP1 and just use Windows Updates [which I download manually and batch install - their installer is crap and I like to have all updates on CD!]

i have the xp2 on here but i got it on the latest xp pro cd no its not avalible to download its been released but i think then need more time to sort out the download and update version as it has to delete stuff and change stuff on ya pc as it installes so they will sort it quick wont be long i think anyway :wink:

Fruit-Emu does not have one long string of replies under one heading, Each topic has it's own heading...Therefore this should be posted as a 'new topic'.

You posted this message twice in this thread...this post consist's of 2 pages at this time..If you look at the bottom it say's page 2 of 2..you have this on each page.

Please don't think i'm being harsh, but if you cannot grasp the site then you have no hope in Emu creating at this point.

madman, you do not need to pay for the sp2 service pack, i posted an official download link on the first page. the download is direct from the microsoft site but the link is just added to download.com .

Thanks for the replies so far guys.Im 21% through downloading it.still 40 mins to go and thats at 88kb/s 8O .I was talking to a guy in my work about it and he said he wouldnt touch it with a bargepole,then i spoke to someone else about it and he said it was great :-?

So anyway im throwing caution to the wind and downloading it anyway.If shit happens then shit happens.
