OK the time has come when I feel confident enough to be able to assist someone who wants to create a layout.

I don't pretend to be an expert....But I can take a ROM and a Pic from scratch and produce an outcome!!

Its not a five minute task, infact its day's for start to finish...Obviously this isn't a school and there can only be One person, so if you want to have a shot make sure that after a day you don't think...sod this!...as someone else may have wanted a try.

Send me a PM and we'll take it from there.....

i have made this offer before but never been taken up on it people think that it is really hard to make a layout - it isnt!

Im not gonna say its easy its just time consuming to start with the best advice i can give is to anyone wanting to start is to make a machine thats already out in the wild then you can just keep it yourself if it is a bit shit the second one always looks a lot better than the first (look at my wizard of odds then my treasure quest you will see what i mean).

I am always willing to help anyone who fancies a shot and im off work til thursday so gimmie or ady a shout and if you use msn you could always get the help of us both 8O

I'm sorry to be bouncing a layout back up, and perhaps Ady isn't willing to help any more [although I guess he is]

I would also be more than happy, as would most other layout designers [although I am pretty shockingly bad at it!] to help people put their own layouts together, even it just for Private use.

Perhaps theres a 1280 release that doesn't fit onto your monitor? Get in touch and I'm sure that one of us could show you how to manipulate the artwork to fit on your monitor, and build a machine rom it!

maybe instead of just teaching one person maybe write a tutorial for the site? Then more people could benifit (epsecially subderma).

What do you think? 8)

and to be honest reading a tutorial is not the same as someone holding your hand through it the first time if it wasnt for the almighty RB theres no chance i would ever have managed to do that first layout

i must admit that i followed those guides to make my first layout and i thought they were very good, i did get some advice from pook in one of the old threads but it was mainly those guides that taught me.

as with the other designers in this thread, i am also willing to sit down and talk somebody through layout design as i have done in the past with other people.

Yes I agree, I most certainly am not knocking them--they are very good, the point of my post was though, as pash touched on too is it is that little bit easier in real time...............Remember you teaching me things (and still do!), god if I had read some of those things a million times I wouldn't have got the hang of it, then thats the kind of learner I am....

i suppose its just personal taste really, i prefer to read instructions on how to do things but i can understand that alot of people are more comfortable with an interactive way of learning.
