Wonder if anyone can shed some light on this One please.

A week or so ago I was on my lappy happily using the WIFI on it (that i'd done for weeks).

Suddenly (and since then) it just went off for no reason and it cannot connect nor detect any possible connections?

I have checked my drivers, that the modem has WAP enabled still and with services on my lappy that WZC is enabled still....all appear fine.

A scan for any dodgy bits ran, and I have even tried a system restore to no avail.

The only system alteration I have done in the past few weeks is installed (doh forgot its name) some software that removed tracking cookies I apparently had...and removed the software as it was a trial.but my wireless was fine

Any help appriciated :)

This might sound daft but when I first got my Lappy I had a similar problem. What I'd done is actually turned the WiFi off by inadvertently pressing the Function (FN) key along with one of the F1 - F12 function keys - F7 I think it was. Pressing FN + F8 turned it back on. Took me ages to work that out, and I'm supposed to know my way around computers lmao

My lads PC was always losing its wireless capabilities , its as if the driver dissapeared although it never..his ran on a wireless dongle though not built in Wi-Fi.

I always just reinstalled the driver over-writing the driver that was already on it and manually scanned for avalible networks again..it usually picked it up.

Another thing you could try is change the channel on your router , not sure what its set to , sometimes its channel 11 or Auto select..you could try putting it on channel 5 or 7 or whatever.

Usually these things are just trial on error.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

Also, check you've not just bumped the hardware switch that controls the wifi - usually on the right side, but on the front of some models. Gives the same symptoms as the laptop thinks the wireless is on but receives nothing back from the device...

Hi
I must agree its usually that the wifi has been turned off by the button? Look in your system tray, you will usually see the wifi connection, right click and connect. This will tell you if no wifi present. 9 outta 10 its usualy been turned off on the lappy by accident.

hiya you could try going on to wireless connections then removeing any listed then try to search for a new connection you might have to re enter your origional details such as ssid or similar.
i had the same problem when i replaced my laptop screen and had to disconnect the wireless card from the motherboard and i had big probs trying to solve it but try this to see if it helps
