March/April for my upgrade too. :)

RH: In my area Virgin Media are a joke too mate… I have 30MB broadband, which everyday has been so slow, XXL TV, which includes the ‘Catch-up’ shite they give you which is more than just useless IMO, and a phone service, which actually isn’t too bad… but their internet, for all the hype it has had, and the fastest it is supposed to be in the UK, just isn't correct at all! It has been rubbish, and when I have telephoned them about the service, and they go through the ‘gobble-de-gook’ they give you (I just explain that I have AD and they then shut up with their jargon because they think they are talking to a simpleton ;)) they end up saying ‘just turn your box off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on again’! Their famous saying, which on most occasions always works, but isn’t the answer to Virgin Media’s problems just lately :)

Has anyone on the 50Mb BB had the big A4 sized promo letter yet? I got mine last week saying that as a valued 50Mb customer they will be boosting me to 100Mb and then a short while after will add another 20Mb to make it 120Mb at no extra cost :)

I wonder if there will be an even bigger increase in my upload speed too? I have 5Mb atm but would love 10/20Mb

Our virgin media has been up the creek for last couple of weeks... Erratic internet and loss of a few hd channels quite frequently... Phoned them last night as i had lost sky sports hd once again.. got into a bit of a roleplay character and ended up almost suicidal that i had lost my hd sports... at one point told the guy in india i had temporarily lost the use of my legs and sky sports hd was my life.. Got offered a £30 credit.. kept moaning and got a £60 credit off my bill!!

Its just the wireless devices in the house that keep dropping connection from it..not constantly likes..but enough to make my lad super-pissed off when he dies on MW3 because of the lag.

If you are using different devices that are using b/g/n mixed, ( eg some on "g" and some on newer "n" like new laptop compared to old )

Theres a few router settings you can tweek to help with that problem, well worked for us anyway.

Yeah cheers Steve , i did phone them up and they told me to change various settings on the router , disable IP flood detection , disable firewall , change the channel , frequency etc..

It does seem to have settled it down , not having as many connection issues with it..we will see how long it lasts though lol.

GOOD NEWS EMail 1

You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages.
These are nice extras we do to make you smile. We call them Virgin Media tickles, and we only give them to people we know and like - our customers.
Virgin Media offers the fastest broadband speeds in the UK*, as proven by Ofcom for three years in a row. And we're committed to keeping it this way. Which is why we're upgrading our award winning fibre optic network over the next 18 months.

As part of this upgrade, you may have seen we'll be doubling many of our customers' broadband speeds. But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead.

So whether you love streaming HD movies, ruling the gaming world or downloading tunes in super quick time - you'll soon be able to do it even faster and for less.

You don't have to lift a finger.

The 120Mb upgrade kick off in the summer and will have a slightly different roll-out schedule to our other work. We'll let you know nearer the time when to expect your broadband speed boost. In the meantime, see what you can do with faster speeds at virginmedia.com/evenfaster.

We'll be in touch in a few weeks with more details about your price reduction, so there's no need to call us, or do a thing – except keep enjoying what is already the UK's fastest broadband.

Kind regards,
BAD NEWS****************************************THEN I GOT THIS ONE *****************************************************
Hello there,

Oops! That last email, 100Mb Broadband Announcement, was sent in error.

Please ignore this, and rest assured current Virgin Media Cable Broadband customers will be receiving some good news about their broadband in the next 2 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Yes they say they are looking after us, as we are special to them… their customers, and as a bonus treat we will ‘double’ your broadband speed…

… then put our packages up in price before we have even received any upgrade from them!

So if that is a bonus, treat and us being special to them… God help those who aren’t to them! lol :realmad:

I'm getting f'd off to the hilt with them now.

About every 2 days, I have been getting an 0800 sales call of them (Google confirms the number), 1/2 the time it drops the call, and other times it takes that long to get to talk to some one, I hang up. this can happen up to 4 times in any one day.

Sheffield / Cleveland Customer retentions is going to get a call off me very soon, with a account closure request :realmad:

I just got off the phone to them about the price increase they have given me. I said I want to be put through to retentions which they did and they have now taken off £6 a month from my bill. The price was going to go up by £4ish but the dude get rid of the payment handling charge and something else which came to 6 quid.

I might reduce the tv from XL to free as i can watch all the stuff on tv for free online
