Just an idea on how to stop spammers maybe. If you,re a new member which most of the spammers are then they could be made to post into a "welcome I,m new" type topic, which before they can make a new or reply to another topic or even download anything they,d have to get a reply off a admin I.e ady, duplu, etc but make the topic only for admins only to reply too. then after it,s been replied to, if they,re genuine they can reply make new topics n download stuff. If not then goodbye but they,d have to post in english too. Lol

Just Google "Forum" and you have thousands of potential targets for your spam. How come there appering all of a sudden? Somthing to do with new servers recently or advertising?
Such is the increase in spam that there are an increasing number of websites dedicated to tackling the problem, like "stopthatspam"
If this site wanted to stop spam altogether (if that is posible) it would need to charge for membership. 1, to disuade the vast majority of spammers, and 2, to cover the cost of spam detection/prevention software.

Steps have now been put into place to stop the spammers:
- The status updates block has been removed from the front page as it is an indirect way to spam that I have no control over.
- A new spam checking service has been implemented to prevent spammers signing up - it checks both the e-mail address used to register from and also the IP against a database if 13 million known spam reports.
- Posts from new members must now be approved until their first post has been approved.
