Well, I wouldn't get either of them myself :)

Why is it those two that you are considering - do you like them yourself, or is it just that they are for sale near you?

While they are both recent techs, and so reliability isn't going to be a major issue, you need to buy a machine that will give you pleasure. If you haven't played machines like Pick Yer Pesos before, they are pretty nasty IMHO, most boards give about £2 and kill on the hi-lo on good numbers. Perhaps they have a good streak potential, but in total I've only played about £200 though, and I didn't lose too much as I tend to collect on crap numbers anyway.

As for Rolling Thunder, I've never played it. From looking at a picture of it, and it's age, it would be the one I would go for. However, if theres one thing about Mazooma that I can't stand, it's that I have NEVER had a Jackpot from one [well, apart from one on Stir Crazy, one of the WORST machines I have ever played...]....

If you liked either of them when you played them, then pay no attention to me and get the one you want, but if you haven't played them before, you can probably find better.

Also, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much are these machines?

I used to play Rolling Thunder in my local - picked up £100 on one occasion - £25jp with 3 repeats. The machine is fairly average, most of the features pay between £1 - £5 unless they are in super mode (which happens quite rarely) and then you are usually guaranteed a jp. Personally I prefer barcrest machines and have Neptune's Treasure at home. I don't play it as much now since finding this site earlier this year.

i bet your be bored of them within weeks, your best bet is to get a club machine, these take longer to gamble out the jackpot. (unless its heartbreak hotel, in which case you wont be getting a jackpot)

I agree with nails. I soon got pretty bored with Neptune's Treasure. Check out prices for club machines - I paid £200 for my machine and could have had a choice of club machines for £250 - £300. Hindsight is wonderful.

Yeah i have played Pick yer pesos before and both me and my mate both loved it. even though i admit it does offer a couple of quid and the kill ya on a 2 but the sound effects are soooooo funny.
like when it farts at ya or laughs when you die but have an extra life.
The reason i want a machine is to play it on the proper mode so i can use it as a money bank, i can only save about £20 a week so a club machine with a hopper level of (i don't no but i reckon it about) £300 - £500 is out of the question but a £125-£150 hopper level will be ok to fill up.
Because obviously im playing it properly without (not always free play) i will need one that i can fill up easily so it will play nicely when i do play it.
I do really like this machine but can these machine become boring like you say, it does have quite a few features.
I have a LORD OF THE RINGS (fotr) down my local which is practically the same and i can't get enough of it, i always wanna play it.
I had PICK YER PESOS down my pub aswell and as before i love this method of play, i just can't stop wanting to play it.
What do you think, will i get bored, and is my reason for buying a non club a good one, because of the hopper levels etc.

Hi sorry i left this out.
Do newer machine like the PICK YER PESOS have a free (test play) i only ask because some of the newer JPEMU machines don't like to let me into the TEST mode where you can play it as normal.

Cheers guys.

Pick yer Pesos is possibly the worst gambler I have ever played. In the rare even that you get onto the high-low gamble on the nudges, it won't neccessarily offer you a win to autonudge in. If it does, you might get up to 4-5quid and it might offer you one of the 9 or so awful features before killing you. It's totally unoriginal, and a bore to play. Rolling thunder, I seem to remember, is quite good. 5 winlines, high-low gamble, bonuses, and a circular spinning feature thing which can offer super features. I'd defnitely go for that one.

Ok, I'd agree, out of those two, Rolling Thunder.

I personally knew which machine I really wanted, and I called all my local suppliers until I had a Spiker the Biker delivered :)

Mazoomas make no sense to me, in terms of price.

I went to a supplier at Peterborough 1 year ago, and for £200 I was offered :

Pie Factory, Spiker the Biker [but all the paint had gone so I got one somewhere else], and a MINT condition Ultimo.

There was a Mazooma Stir Crazy [IMHO a FAR inferior machine] for £350. I think its due to the cashbox returns on Mazooma / BFM machines. Any manufacturer which sells machines aimed at 'lapsed' players, and has the highest Cashbox return suggests to me 'shite gameplay'. Mazoomas can be ok, Revolver used to be in a local, used to play on 3 winlines @ 20p, quite often came out double money.

I guess what I am saying is IF it has to be one of those two machines, I would be willing to pay about £150 collected, and about £170 > £190 delivered depending on distance.
I think that the best compromise between Pick yer Pesos and a decent machine would be something like Barcrest Temple of Treasure, which go for the £125 mark on eBay, although delivery/collection needs to be taken into account.

Failing that, I'd keep my eye open for the following which I think offer good gameplay and would make decent moneyboxes :

Spiker the Biker [goes for about £100>£150 on eBay]
Monty Pythons Flying Circus + clones [Same prices as Spiker]
Frenzy / Psycho Cash Beast [Same again]
King Kebab [About the Same]
Sheik Yer Money [Maybe even less!]

Most recent BFMs which are the Diamond Mine clones are pretty good aswell, I got £35 on the £5 version, 6 Red Boards, 1 with Repeat :)

At the end of the day though, just get whatever you want, or whatever plays well in your opinion :)

You must be playing a rigged or emptied machine because i always get on the machine say every 2 quid.
I have also had the jackpot repeat by getting about 6 nudges on the board and then a repeat i ended up with £54 quid that i didn't have before.
its a good game, yeah alright it can be a bit of a bitch but then you get your good times to.

I must have played this machine 10000 times, made good money of it, but for buying purposes its a pretty crap choice...

the gameplay invovles a simple progression, ie. if it kills at £2 on the hilo, without collecting the next board will offer £3, and upon not collecting that then £4 and so on until the jp is obtained. The machine will block the £10 - £25 gamble for about £20-30 of credits however, the way around this is to nudge in £10 ( easily enough done the hilo rarely loses when its ready for £10, just keep shufling till its within 10 nudges ), and have a bonus on the left hand side, on occasion this will offer reelstepper which allows you to stop it on 1 or 12 for a garenteed jp. It'll never be more than £15 off to be ready for £10 hence the profit you usaully make.

Also occasionly it streaks, ie. repeats the jp, or the bird/man goes red, and the streak is generally £75, however it can be £50/100. If the machine is never forced for jp, it will naturally go red after about £1-2000, in which case the streak will generally be £50.

All the features are pretty crap, normal pick ur pesos is £8-10, and it offers it when its £10 happy, red pick ur pesos is incredibly hard to get and in any case it wont offer it unless ready to hilo to jp that board, even if you do get it, it will be £25 unless it wanted to streak from jp, in which case it may be £75.

I think that about covers it :p

I miss the good old Impusle games :

£15 JP High Voltage
£15 JP Gridrunner
£15 JP WipeOut

Stuff like that. None of this stupid Streak shite that their modern machines come up with. I have never ONCE had a streak on one of the above machines, but I loved them as they were ALWAYS [In my experience], £5>£20 in for a Jackpot. Easy to force, plenty of scary Hi-Lo numbers to give me chest pains, but ultimately, a pretty fair set of machines.

Shame, I hate it when manufacturers lose their way :(

You do know which machine Pick Yer Pesos is, right? I won't correct the spellings and stuff e.t.c, people think I'm a git and I don't want to go out of my way to prove them right :)
