I've got one. I get the problem where on some machines the sound effects occasionally sound scratchy and distorted. I seem to remember one of the prescribed cures is to turn off sound acceleration in Directx. This does fix alot for me but not 100%.

A good idea, just make sure its REALLY easy to find, towards the top of the main body of the homepage!
Couple of points, such as :
Basic changing of Stakes / Percentages across emus, not using dipswitches.
Machines freezing [JPeMu], about the mute releases, and the most obvious of all!!!!
NO SOUND ROM / PROGRAM ROM found......seems to be quite commonly asked, people not realising they need the ROMs + layouts, sometimes seperate files.

Here's one for you
My Thunderbirds DX plays way to fast on JPeMU, it use to spin fine, but the speed is now riciulous, how do you change this?

if that is a serious question and not just an example the answer is raise the delay, the higher the number the slower the reels will spin.

Don't forget those newbies and that old chestnut....the layout won't fit on my screen. Some basic tips on how to change it through control panel for those too lazy to read the tutorials.
<span style='font-family: Comic Sans MS'><span style='font-size: 12px;'>It's all done in the best possible taste. </span></span>

Slow reels in MFME runing under SP2 is a good one.
Also how to get a machine into test mode would be helpful for some.

How about the 20p chestnut on some machines.... club casino crazy springs to mind... I remember it being a IOU 20p error on the matrix after collecting wins and to sort it you have to change what hopppers are fitted in the emu.

mute jpm's and v1.46...
the auto speed button in jpemu and throttle in bfm and delay in mfme and F9 in mfme, unclick show toolbar in jpm
Some explanation of what techs are in which emu and why
the mechanics of the zip files ie need layout AND roms, bfm's don't need unzipping
clickable buttons usually appearing on right side of layout (drag side out)
buttons being usually cosmetic not clickable in mfme1.1
Explanation of formats, PDX / WDX / HDX / Classic etc
That some older machines are locked and won't allow key re-mapping / reel toggling etc
How to get rid of dodgy reel masks
All kinda obvious stuff

just a few comments related to the quoted post.
i have just added a post about the mute jpemu issue. thanks.
the delay in jpemu and mfme was already added.
i think the knowledge base is just for common errors encountered when playing layouts and not to explain why techs are not emulated.
i have just added about the errors that arise from only having the layout. thanks.
the hidden clickable buttons were covered in "changing button shortcuts".
the different layout styles is not an error so i do not think it will be added to the knowledge base.
the fact that locked layouts will not allow the button shortcuts to be changed has been covered in "changing button shortcuts".
again changing reel masks is not really an error but it may well be added at a later date.
thanks for the suggestions eyleyro they were most helpful.
if anybody can think of some more errors that newbies may have then please post them here.

No JP KEY means that the machine doesn't know what 'Jackpot Key' the machine is supposed to be at.
There are a few ways of setting/changing the JP KEY.
You can either use the configuration where it says Stake/Prize/Percentage, or you can use the dipswitches to set the JP KEY.
Another way is to play around with the buttons and set it that way.
The JP KEY is just telling the machine what prize the Jackpot should be.
