Soon as I was 17 I was looking at insurance quotes for cars, put it bluntly, me on a 1.1 1984 Fiesta was £4500ish.

But as im 18 in 3 months I checked again and because ive been on a moped for over a year I have 1 years NCD, it was £1389 for me to get insured :) Quite a drop eh? But still £160 A MONTH! which any job I get at my age would only just cover that!

Anyone started driving and got any decent quotes? Im looking at cars around the 1.2 mark, I did find a Renault 5 Monaco 1.7 (non turbo :( ) and got quoted £1600! which is bloody cheap! All these quotes are off compare the market and with companies like 1st Central, RAC and Ecar. Unlike Asda who are asking £20,000 yes. Twenty thousand pounds for a 1.2 Punto?!

So what was your first car and insurance? Id love to know how cheap it was in the 80's (50's for some members cough ady) ;) I really was born in the wrong generation!
