For a while now I've noticed something strange in my local arcade.

Over the last cpl of weeks I noticed reserved stickers on a few machines (Magic 7's) when there's been nobody in there.

About a week ago I called in on my way into town and put about £40-£50 through one without getting a win.

I was only in town for 15 mins or so then called back in to try a cpl more quid as it was backing and guess what? A reserved sticker on it! When I asked the attendant why she said a woman had just been on it and had to nip home for more money.

Bit strange I thought. Then yesterday I called in and was playing a machine next to one with a sticker on.

A woman walked in and was more or less directed onto it, attendant removed the sticker and the woman started playing it.

After taking around £80 in about 5 mins she got up and went.

Now call me paranoid but it doesn't take a genius to work out what's going on.

boromag you know darn well what's going on buddy...your'e not paranoid!!

Doubt there's anything you can do except front the Manager/ess and voice your concerns....or just avoid the premises.

This has always happened and always will whatever arcade you visit.

Not paranoid,it's what you call staff looking after their regulars.Arcades are getting that dead now they will do anything they can to get people filling their machines.I wouldn't bother playing in there in the future.

So what you need to do is start chatting to the old trout behind the cash desk and casually mention you were unaware of the facility to reserve machines and for an explanation of how it all works. Then I suggest that if there is a machine you want to play that is reserved that you ask for the machine next to it to be reserved - nip out for 2 minutes then nip back and "accidentally" play the one you wanted to play rather than the one you reserved. If the old trout questions it then suggest she is mistaken and maintain that stance.

2 sides to the coin, if you put a couple of hundred quid in and ran out of money, would you be thankfull if the arcade reserved the machine for you?

There's been many times I've ran out of money and asked for a reserve sticker, thing is, it states on the sticker that the machine is held for a maximum of 10 minutes. I've seen stickers on the same machine with the same reel setup and 1 credit for over a weekend. I've pulled them a few times saying it's bad for business if the machines are held up but they don't seem to care.

Next time ask for their head office phone number and ask em for their names then you can inform them your not happy with whats going on,this normally cures things like that, unless it's a family run arcade.and not a big business.

I've starting demanding the licensing doc's now, as a way of putting the wind up them, and certainly did work well in this place in Derby once :D

If it states on the sticker that they can only be reserved for ten minutes then after ten minutes of inactivity you are within your rights to remove the sticker hand it back to the old trout and start playing. If she objects then suggest she takes it up with head office as you will do if she stops you from playing that machine right now. Remember you are the customer and are paying the old trouts wages
