Hi Guys

Been Thinking If Your A Bit Like Me & Your Busy Busy Busy
Or If Your Looking To Store Your Machine For An Unknown Period Of Time

Ive Recently Seen Loads Of Batterys Leak There Contents Due To Old Age/ Various Temp Changes Damaging & Creating Faulty Boards Ect - Mainly Epoch Works On Other's

Simple As It May Sound

Ive Braught A Replacement Battery But Rather Than Solder It Directly To The Board

Ive Got A Approx 16cm Of R&B Thin Speaker Wire
And Soldered It The PCB Board
& The Other End Directly To The Battery Teminal

Simple As It May Sound

[ PCB ]===Spker Wire ==== 3.6 Battery

Simply If The Battery Do Corrode It Wont Damage The PCB Board

Also If You Have A Staple Gun (Be Careful)

Staple The Wire On The Wood - Carefull Not To Cut Through The Wire

It Will Hang But If You Staple Around 2.5cm From The Batt It Secures The Battery A Little Better

Wish Manufactures Had A Wired Battery That Was Not Directly On the PCB

Us lot at MPU Mecca have been doing this for years.

We tend to use phone wire (Stuff is no more than 20p per meter from Wilco's), and fly wire it off the board.

Maygay M1 series and Epoch has to be the worst for leaks, damage wise.

Like I did on my Scorp4, common sense really, why solder somthing thats just gonna leak again lol

Well Its A Shame They Where Designed Out Of The Factory (On The Board Its Self)

But Do Agree Least We Can Save Some Of The Older Boards This Way

Agree with moving the batt but as the first post if your looking to just store the machine just de-solder the batt and replace a new once the machine comes back into service.

Conditions of storage affect the batt greatly, fully working 12 per day will be ok and im sure this is what the guys and Bell-fruit and Maygay thought all them years back.

Yes indeed and in all fairness, enthusiasts keep fruit machines well beyond their intended design life.
