Thanks for posting this i just watched and very interesting, I could relate to soo much of this as i use to have a big problem but the birth of my kids stopped me and i never use to play to win but rather just play to win more credits so i can continue playing.

I quit 6 major problem addictions

gambling
smoking (Quit 18yrs now)
drinking (was alcholic)
soft drugs
hard drugs
stealing

I know now i am very strong willed but before my 3 little ones come along my addictions only made me suffer, but i decided to do whats best for my kids.

I use to feel sick to my stomuch and hate and punch myself hard in the face after gambling and losing lots of money, gambling is an illness but it can be defeated!

For me the Gambling and the Drinking went hand in hand as i would go to my arcade spank hundreds if not over a thousand in there and to try help me get over what i done turn to drink. But of course how do you get drink if you lose your money of course you turn to shoplifting. Its a viscous circle that is very hard to get out of and for me i had to totally change my surroundings in order to make the change in my habits. So can I totally relate to everything you have said Bandits.

Its extreamley difficult to beat and there is very little help out there to do it.

Yeah m8 i use to shoplift too and was a burglar for 13yrs, done my time etc altho in my day there was honor amongst thieves and i never stole off friends or family, I completely turned my life around not because i had too but cause i wanted too,

It's good to see they are finally recognizing the problems of gambling and i blame the system somewhat because in that programme they said there were more betting shops, arcades etc in poor area's and far less in rich area's, it's like they know the poor will gamble more to maybe try to lift themselves out of poverty.

I feel for anyone going through the motions of being addicted to gambling but i want others to remember it can be beat if you are determined, gambling nearly ruined my life and i spent far more than i care to admit but i try to be positive and think at least i beat it and thats what matters!

The program on bbc3 was very true if your a hardcore gambler like I was and still am occasionally you do commit crime to feed your habit I admit I have, once had a fruity key for the cashbox at chippy I worked for, used to play machine with 50p,s knowing they,d drop to bottom and play them again eventually making the machine run out of £1,s cause I,d have a pocket full of them so I could goto arcade next day with them. 2nd example worked in holiday camp waited till bosses of take away I worked in to go home at 10pm, reopened shop for couple of hours made 30quid + every night and also worked in site shop didn,t put every pound through till another 30+quid a day all went through arcades plus measly wages I was on that's cause I was depressed nothing else to do no friends apart from the slots lost few stone in weight too so gambling also effects your health to with the stress of losing vast amount of cash. Now I only play upto £25jp max as the higher jp,s skank to much cash and with the price of things and family to support I simply haven,t got the money to piss down the drain, I still have a binge now and again "get me fix" but not as bad as I was. Gambling is like a disease it eats at you every time you see a flashing cherry, grape. Problem with today is gambling IS everywhere you can even gamble at 16 to win millions, but can,t drink or even drive (NOT together) till 18. I think to solve some gambling problems or at least help it get rid of high jackpot/stake machines bring back smaller token type machines again (mr P,s everywhere lol ) maybe with the new taxes bought in we,ll see this happen, stop all these lottery games just go back to a single lottery and iilegal to play till 18 they,re all diesigned to make people gamble more how many draws a week is thereabout 10 at last count and how many different scratch cards is there at any one time about 20 probably, there,s also been an Explosion of internet gambling especially bingo sites I know I,ve been on most of them, ban these online bingo sites from advertising on tv between 7am and midnight they banned ciggy adverts so what the difference with gambling ones because they,re all aimed at housewives etc emmerdale farm sponsored by tombola, jeremy kyle sponsored by foxy etc isn,t this fun chat away online and blow your housekeeping at the same time lol not funny really but true, until the government clamps down on these issue,s the,re always be gambling and lots of it fills the governments coffers up though that's enough ranting for now someone else can have a go lol
