Day 3 of fixing the editor...
Its all coming along very nicely, taking some time, but a LOT is happening right now.
1) I have made the undo bar slightly smaller, and made the layout tools slightly bigger, so they are a bit less cramped.
2) I've been fiddling around with the bitmap file format and am now extracting data from the file itself, this will have a few effects
2A) The "extract transparency" question is now gone for good, lamp maps are created dynamically (in a fraction of the time) and updated as the layout is updated.
2B) You can now "ping" a lamp from background 1 to backgrounds 2,3,4 or vice versa from within the emulator.
2C) I have been experimenting with adding an alpha channel to the graphics from within the emulator, handy for lamp masks on reels. I can add the channel already, but as picture boxes in VB6 don't support alpha blending properly, its waiting for a DirectX hookup to properly test.
2D) I have added a "preview lamp mask" tick box, in readiness for 2C.
2E) Up until now, whenever importing a texture, I had to load it to a picturebox, then grab the size of it from the picturebox settings. Now I can take the data directly from the file, loading is a bit quicker. However this needs changing in a lot of places, so it will take a while to get this all coded in.
3) I have fixed the reel editor, it now forces you to enter the number of symbols etc before you can use it, it should now save all 3 reels too.
4) The layout wizards will be getting a thorough going over before next release, mainly to ensure that all the default values are being set properly, and to take account of the new bitmap importing procedures.
5) I have added even more to the layout cleanup, map files will now be removed before save as they are created at layout load.
6) The Dot Matrix is now hooked up to the layout tools, so you can move it with the mouse.
7) Lamp auto size now works on all lamps.
And more general fixes as bugs are found.
I could use a little help please guys
Does anyone have an on / off pic ready to make a layout, I will do a demo video, as well as describing the creation of a layout in the docs, it would be more prudent to do a not yet done layout.
Also, would some designers who know their way round Photoshop or whatever be willing to create some new alpha's, that way I can put a small selection in for different alpha types and smaller sizes. I can whoever a demo set of images and whatever help they need.
