from wikipedia Intel G900 series gfx cards...

This core contains Pixel Shader version 2.0 only, it does not contain Vertex Shaders nor does it feature Transform & Lighting (T&L) capabilities and therefore is not Direct X 8.1 or 9.0 complaint.

Sorry Ady mate.

Update from me:

Amber loads on my laptop with everything ticked :o)

However, i cant get blues boys to run and whenever i try it causes amber to crash and flashed up a warning message regarding a bug.

I would give you more info if i knew how to post a screen shot and if it wasnt for the fact i have to do control-alt-delete to exit Amber.

Are you using the latest version of the emulator?

Did you install by running the installer as admin?

The previous version worked fine on my home PC, just downloaded the latest version on my laptop with Nvidia 540m graphics and I get a run-time error '380' Invalid property value when loading Aladdins Cave. I have all graphics options off and it happens in full screen or windowed mode.

I have installed as admin and run as admin on Windows 7 64 bit.

Could be my laptop, could be the new version of the emulator.

I get - The component pack installed is too old, please upgrade it. then - Runtime error '9' subscript out of range.

Have you installed the latest version of the emu?

Did you use the manual method or the installer method?

If you used the installer did you run it as admin?

Easiest way to fix it is to download the "manual install" pack and copy the components.cpf file in the pack to the Project Amber > Components folder.

But please answer all the above questions as there may well be a bug I need to fix.

I now have the latest version working.
Installer detects 'Win 7 Ultimate 64bit' as 32 bit, I was manually selecting 64bit and getting 'component pack too old' error.
everything works fine if I leave the install settings to 32bit as detected.

Well according to your dxDiag screenshot (previous page, post 199) you have a HP Compaq dc7600 Small Form Factor, which has a G900 chipset, have you let windows auto update your gfx drivers?

Well Ive been trying different things but I have stripped the graphics down to a bare minimum and its such a limited number of chips affected, theres not much I can do without one in front of me.

That being said, Intel Onborad gfx chips are just awful, I thoroughly recommend one of these...

(yes there is a cheaper one in the same section but you need one with a low profile bracket to fit your machine)

I'm guessing Ady will have an AGP system, like mine, if he's got a P4. PCI graphic cards wont fit his motherboard if it's AGP, so he may need to get a decent AGP card. I'm still using an ancient Radeon X1950 Pro Card, which runs Amber without too many problems. You could probably get one for a £10, these days. :)
