I've always had very much interest in arcade machines. Not only their software, but moreover their hardware. Being an active user of Visual Pinball for about 10 years and Future Pinball ever since it was released, I recently found out about the fruit machine emulators on this website. This raised a question: Are there more tools / platforms which are capable of simulating the hardware (even for machines having no or simulated software just as in Future Pinball). With this I mean hardware that's really functioning and not static hardware as found in the 3D Arcade frontend for MAME. Next is a list of platforms I know of and am using. Any information on this topic is appreciated.
Side-question: Is there a fruit machine emulator (simulating hardware) which is capable of emulating video slot machines?
BFMulator
Future Pinball
JPeMu
MFME
Project Amber
Visual Pinball (PinMAME)

Well there is a fruit machine emu out there that can play bwb video fruit machines but ya not got much chance of playing it any time before the end of the world. I think MAME plays some old video games one I think I played was the 10p hi/lo games £2 jackpot. I cant remember if that was on mame or if it was on the real machine it was many years ago.

Yes I'm aware of MAME being able to play some video slots, one I found is Fairy Land 2. However, there is no hardware simulation in MAME itself.

it also plays sidewinder and spellbound, 2 video fruities from theearly80s, but sadly they are mute.

Thanks pilky for your link. These, however, are simulators of "internal" hardware, such as cpu's, gpu's (for as far they existed at the time) and memory units. They don't simulate the "external hardware", that is, they don't come with graphics, buttons or other interactive components that were on the outside of the machine which can be controled by the mouse or the keyboard. All the simulators I've listed do come with such interactive components.
For the video slots, thank you very much for the information. It's nice to try them out. The cool thing about Fairy Land 2 is that it's relatively new (2005) compared to the others. I, however, think it's still a pity that there is no interactive hardware simulation for those video slots.
