I know everyone has had a 'never gonna gamble again' time.

Well we had an agreement, if ANYONE was caught playing a fruit machine we'd have to pay each of the others £50 (totally £250) so even if you did 'take JP' out of a machine it'd not be worth it....

Anyway... thats enough of the 'setting the scene'

While we decided 'NOT TO PLAY' Machines, we went to a workingmans
club (our pool team were playing there at the time)
They had next to the Fag Machine a kinda Scratch card thing.
it was a Fruit Machine on a Small Piece of Cardboard, you peeled back
the 3 rows of cardboard to see if you got 3 symbols the same.

A friend of mine brought one card 50p!!!!!
Got 3 Bells and won £125!

So, not only did we beat them at pool, we walked away with £125
of their money Muahahahaaaa :) :) :)

nice... i won £24 on a scratchcard once... that was about it..

BUT

once i was in tesco queing to get some fags... thought id buy a scratchy cause i had a spare pound... they had these new ones called 'bee lucky'...
the old lady in front of me brought some random one.. was about to leave when she decided she would scratch it their and then... she won a quid.. so she thought she would choose another one... the assistant behind the counter (my new worst enemy) reccomened her a bee lucky as they were new. she brought it and in front of my eyes with the card i was going to buy won the 3 grand jackpot!!!!! i couldnt believe.. i was that close. if i had left my house 30 seconds earleir i woulda been 3 grand better off...
if i didnt have a heart i woulda mugged her outside the shop...

stupid heart :(

A bloke who I work with was part of a lottery syndicate when he worked in London. Their syndicate got six numbers on the lottery and his share was around £300,000.

However a very messy divorce a few years ago resulted in her leaving him and taking the house. How to win and lose a fortune...............

Me personally I have never won F**K All, I have a good punt on the fruities about once every six months. The last time cost me around £125 on partytime arena and Monopoly. This site helped me kerb my frutie habits but I now play alot of online Texas Holdem...........MUG I KNOW...

I think that the cardboard 'pull back' cards mentioned in the first post are a good idea. The ones in my local clubs come in varients from £50 to £250. Best thing, is that they have the odds printed on the back of the card. From what I remember, a stack of the cards holds something like 1000 cards.

It works out something like :

1 card = £250 jackpot.
3 cards = £50 second prize
10 cards = £10 third prize
25 cards = £5 fourth prize
100 cards = £1

Plus...if you happen to be in the club all the time, and know that there is 1 quarter of a stack or less left [i.e under 250 tickets - you can see the stacks through the front of the machine], and you know that no one has claimed a JP prize, you will normally get the £250 with quite a bit less than that it.

Not that I play them :)

My highest non fruit machine win was 2x £1 E/W bets [i.e £4 stake], and I got about £110 back [66/1 and 50/1]

Doesn't happen all the time, mind :D

I think the most lucky person I know is a guy who placed two bets back in 2000 (I think) Covering football...

£5 bet accumulation he needed to get all his bets right to win

he picked the winner of the Premiership
1 , 2 , and 3rd Divisions as well as the Scottish Premiership

He had 2 bets one covering Man U and one covering Arsenal

HE won.

Ended up with around £13,000 if I recall

Once won about £4000+ in an online casino - grandhotelcasino or something - won about $1000 and though oh sh1t, if the wife finds out she will kill me so tried to either lose or win big - gambled on - sometimes upto $1000 a hand at blackjack - got to the point where I thought better leave with about $6000.

It took 6 weeks for them to send a cheque and another 4 weeks for it to clear - but got money in the end.

About June last year I went out to a mates birthday piss up. Load of beers, fantastic curry, and ended up in a nightclub. Got to chucking out time at 2 and since I couldn't be arsed to walk al the way home I thought I'd drop by the local casino which was just round the corner to get a taxi (they usually only take a few minutes to arrive and they don't rip you off:) )

Had about £35 on me so I thought I'd have a bit of fun with it. started on roulette got 40 x 50p chips (£20) and just stuck large piles on a few numbers. One of them came in and ended up about 140 quid up. So I just kept on playing putting huge stacks on random numbers.

I had a pocket full of various £5, £25 and £100 chips by the time I finished that night. I couldn't believe it when I went to cash up. TWO AND A HALF GRAND!!! two grand in those nice sealed plastic envelope thingies they user and 500 quid in 50's. Nice.

Not only that, when my taxi turned up, it was a friend of my dad's who was doing one last fare before he knocked off so he took me home and it didn;t cost me anything. :):):)

What did I spend it on? 2 weeks in Majorca and beefed up my PC.

Years ago working for motorola there in that craphole called basingstoke,
a finance manager won on the lottery - i think him and 2 others split something like 12mill or something. His wife was quoted in the papers
saying something like "oh we need a new car but we won't do be extravagant". (Him being finance manageryou know he was making good $)

Like, wtf is it with the lottery and 'winners' - the winners are either tossers like that or old biddies.

Has always peessed me off, that.
