File Name: Coliseum 1600 DX
File Submitter: ploggy
File Submitted: 16 Jun 2012
File Category: Impact

Thought I'd get this released before I got too sloshed. :D

It's a DX for a MDM machine on the Impact tech called Coliseum. Very much a follow-up to their other classic machine Colossus. So if you've played that you'll know how this is going to turn out. Plays a pretty tidy game on the £15/30p setting, and it has some funky samples which MDM were famous for, so not all bad.

One thing worth noting, and that is when you get a few large wins after each other, you might see the 'Refill Required' lamp come on. I've played this a lot when making the layout and I haven't had any 'IOU' messages, so I don't think the machine will run dry. If it does, I've added a shortcut for the 'Refill' button, which is "R". So when you see the lamp come on, you can hold down the "R" key and put a few £1 coins in until the lamp goes off. It'll be like playing the real thing where you need to fill it up yourself. Use MFME3.2 to play.

Onto the credits. Huge thanks to SPA, for the flier that was used. Short, and sweet. :)

Shortcuts are as follows:

Cancel/Collect - `
Hold 1 - 1
Hold 2/HI - 2
Hold 3/LO - 3
Exchange - E
Start/Gamble - Space
Refill - R
£1 Insert - 0

Enjoy!

What OS' are you on lads? I'm on XP here and it works without any sound problems when using MFME3.2

EDITED TO ADD: The layout also works on MFME2.1, but you'll lose the ability to rescale the layout. Could you test the layout on MFME2.1 and see if you get the same sound problems?

Whoops! :(

I packed the zip incorrectly. Trust me to start drinking before I uploaded the file! :D

Bear with me. I'll get the layout updated ASAP.

EDITED TO ADD: The layout has now got the correct sound file. I accidentally uploaded two sets of program roms with the original layout. Not like me at all. :)

The missing sound rom is attached if you've already downloaded the original layout. Just put it in the original folder, and delete the roms "cseum1_0.p1" and "cseum1_0.p2"

Great release, thanks ploggy. Finally managed to get the drift down to below 0 - she's been paying like crazy! Actually a pretty decent machine, a bit different from Colossus - the light 4 numbers to open hidden features is a nice twist. Strange that they got rid of 3rd hold and in, which was a major part of the Colossus gameplay.

Wow, absolutely fantastic that you have got this machine DX'd or even emulated!!

I couldn't help thinking though, that I don't think it was a machine people played or even saw, I used to love this machine and was popular in the North West!!. but would be great if someone knew if any arcade with this exsistance??

I would like to thank you for this machine that you have released, It's a shame people don't emulate much anymore, such as myself and also a shame that the appreciation isn't as high as it used to be

Thanks again
