Just thought i would share this obvious but often overlooked tip. If the note acceptor will not take a note (As it's displaying a red X) then you can asume it's empty and walk away. You might have noticed this tends to be the case on All Fired Up, Vamp It Up and the new Shark themed version LOL 8-)

I noticed that flashing on an All Fired Up which was just sited in a local chain - it was in the new Horizon cabinet.
Do you think it was incorrectly floated [i.e the bloke forgot to press 'topped up'], or it was floated to below the £50 threshold?
Is it still a £50 cutoff where the machine will stop accepting notes when £50 or less is in the hopper, or has that increased?

some pubs dont want a note acceptor so when a machine arrives on site and they dont want the acceptor then you can flip a dil switch to just show the red x on the note acceptor so no one uses it.

Well the reason i mentioned thoose machines is the fact they are usually hit hard and are often found in a state where they have very little money left in them. In all the pubs i have been to where they don't want note acceptors they don't have them and a blanking plate is in place.

I fail to see why a pub could not want a note acceptor :
A) Punters always have access to change - hence lose more. Also, as machines can't pay out notes, theres a cache of notes which accumulates.
Saves the bar from having to keep loads of £1 coins, or deal with changing of notes when they could be serving.
C) They are more reliable than they were, although I have had several strim errors on them - the new ones [NV6?] are probably way better though!
I also fail to see why you wouldn't just remove the note mech and use the blanking plate, mentioned by Barcrest above? Seems pointless to have it in a machine but unusable

personally i would take 75-100 out of a vamp it, and THEN put some £20 notes through, to give other platers the thougfht that it was totally smashed and would leave it well alone, untill my next visit

probably it wount take long and you will have machines paying out
in notes ,too.We here in germany have some already.
Also our machines know, when there are for example only 50 euros
left in the tubes,so they then disable the noteacceptor for a little while.
Still you wouldnt know,if someone won or if someone just changed
notes for coins to use on other machines.
(our machines have an autoplay button, you can even set the gamble
to you prefered prize)

heres an example of what i meant....
we site machines in pubs for a major brewery up north and they asked for note acceptors in all their machines (we put note acceptors in nearly all our machines)but after about a month of having the machines they then told us they wanted the note acceptors to be disconnected, the reason being people were using the fruit machine just to get change out of it to use in other machines ie,fag machine.
the barstaff were refusing to give change for large notes at the bar so they were telling them to use the fruit machine .
i dont understand the logic behind it but we were informed to disconnect all note accepters from this brewery chain.
i think each public house gets charged more rent on their machine if they have a note acceptor.
half the note acceptors are crap in scotland anyway because they are tried and tested with english notes so a huge amount of scottish notes dont work.

Hi Guys,
I have a Rio Enhanced Grand Casino machine which I took delivery of on Tuesday and she is my pride and joy.
I just wanted to know how I get my Japan Cash Note accepter working, I have made the machine think that the hoppers are topped up £1000 in £1 hopper and £20 in the 10p hopper but still cannot get the note accepter to take any notes even when the arrow is flashing and the note sign is lit up, although its not a big deal.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks from Gav.
