It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the compatibility issues are down to the PCs being 'very' specific hardware lists - without naming names, I've heard in the past that beta testing for INDE and Itbox is a pest, as what works on dev hardware can break irreperably.
That's why I talk about Direct X 7 - the Itbox cannot be reliably run with anything later, because of it's insistence on using retained mode for menu video.
Not as bad as the original Proteus/Gamebox from JPM - Windows 2000 Pentium 3 PC, with IE6 in Kiosk mode for the menus IIRC.

I've just tried installing DirectX 7 but it says it's not compatible with this version of Windows. I'm using XPsp3.It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the compatibility issues are down to the PCs being 'very' specific hardware lists - without naming names, I've heard in the past that beta testing for INDE and Itbox is a pest, as what works on dev hardware can break irreperably.

For Monstercash, search the folder for any files containing a 'ú' character in their name, then change all the 'ú's to a '£'. So for example Winú1.px is renamed to Win£1.px.That's a 'ú' btw not a 'u'. 17 files in total.

For CrystalMaze7, open the samp.h file in Wordpad then re-save it.
Apparently if you ftp certain file between different os's they get reformatted automatically, Wordpad formats it back to windows style - all to do with carriage returns.

So, the game relies on Windows line endings? Wow, I'd never even thought of that, since I assumed that something that managed would cope with both.
(The games look a lot like the sort of library laden stuff that just 'handles' stuff like that invisibly.

Itbox works well enough, not that that's much consolation.

Thanks Sprero this works like a charm now - thanks:)
Out of interest (and i think someone has already asked) is The Weakest Link available anywhere?
Cheers

It was on the repro I think... but it doesn't seem to be there any more.

el condor (or anyone) have you got any idea why some games exit on loading saying something about borland class not reigstered and missing files on the c:/drive? Im thinking of big match and toss the monkey for two- there are others

I think it's for when they try to trigger the Itbox error handler, so it's symptomatic of something else (wrong interface sim, that sort of thing). It certainly threw me with some of this, because when games fail, they start looking for all sorts of stuff.
Alternatively, they could just be really badly programmed.

this also solves the problem in 1vs 100, thanks

Those people having IN:DE problems, there are different interfaces - the sockets type which seem to run normally using the existing sims, and stuff like the GMInterface, which Crystal Maze uses amongst others. Procmon looks for something in a folder called UI - sw_drm.dll - is there a UI folder on anyone's HD that it may be worth uploading?

I downloaded the 2 games you mentioned and I get the same result when I try to run them. It can't be a coincidence that both are Mazooma... are the others, that you say do the same, also Mazooma?

As for my post above sw_drm.dll - it looks like it's a key component of Windows, so lord knows what's going on there (Should probably try this on Windows XP).
