Hi. This is my first post and I need help with my classic mayday mario kart fruity. It works perfectly for its age but it is limited to a fiver jackpot. I have 2 manuals that really dont contain info on changing the jackpot. I have the decals to change the prizes and feature board which tells me it can be done. Any help is much appreciated.

Note- the machine is in my garage. Private use only. Thankyou.

You will need a prize/stake key to change the jackpot :)

On Maygay's, you will also need the correct roms, as the JP is tied to whatever rom's you use, though you can change price of play at will in the manor cardie has suggested.

Keys can be got from Swallow Amusements (A fellow FME member, in IOW)

First, WOW, I didn't know there was a Mario Kart Fruity, I MUST OWN ONE!!!!!

Secondly, I am a totaly newbie at this, so stanmarch14 is probably right, but I have a Maygay Billy the Quid, and I could change the settings for the jackpot and the stake using a 'prize' key, which is just a load of switches on a plug, not a key at all!

my one looks just like this one: http://www.ebay.co.u...3#ht_3039wt_944

so might be worth a try for a fiver.

let us know how you fix it.
I really want a Mario Kart Fruit Machine, if you have one, or see one for sale, please let me know.

Yeah but Billy the Quid runs on a completely different tech. Mario Kart is an Epoch and BTQ is probably Eclipse at a guess. What stanmarsh said will almost certainly be correct. Save the fiver :)

Oh, my Billy the Quid is Epoch too, well, that's what the main board has printed on it. epoch the one with the leaky battery? my battery is a little furry so needs 'moving' to somewhere safe.

Just been dealing with a Maygay M1 a / b based Donky Kong for a member at the Mecca, and same problem on that..... can change price of play at will no problem, but for different JP like £10 (He has the £5 set right now), have to use a different rom which has £10JP enabled on it.

With Epoch's though, not 100% sure but I believe they follow pretty much every other manu, in that you can change JP and price of play with a switchable key, as I think Maygay twigged that the different rom requirement on their M1 series based machines pissed off quite a few people (Basically their way of making more money on upgrades).

In any case for a Fiver from Swallow Amusements, it's not a fortune lost if the JP trick is not possible without new roms, and least you can actually change price of play without having to burn your fingers with a soldering iron on the back of a d-plug, also noting this key is pretty much compatible on any UK machines that use a stake / prize key (JPM though can be a problem in some cases mind).

Get that battery off ASAP (Even if you have to clip it off with a pair of wire cutters), as it can and will kill your Epoch board, also noting getting replacements if at all possible, are £30+ at the moment.

Once you have cleaned up any mess the battery has made, you can actually run the machine without one, but the machine may bitch about it's memory being cleared, but that message will disappear

If / when you do install a new battery, note the + / - on the board, and fly-wire it off the board (Use of security alarm or telephone wire from places like wilco's is ideal) so the battery is sited away from any electronics, and attach the battery to those wires.

Replacement Epoch batteries, I use this seller located in Loughborough, who's got a good price on them (For all other batteries though, use Alex / aaamusements, link is in my sig) http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d341ae598

BTW, my first post (I should have made this clear earlier), refers to machines based on maygay's M1 a/b hardware (Thought the OP had an M1 a/b based machine), so sorry for any confusion, as I do understand on Epochs, a key can be used, and there is no need to change the ROM's.

ahh, well I've never heard anyone say about different versions before, other than v2 to get rid of the annoying buzz!

So how do you go about getting these rooms then? Can you download them and reprogram the chips, the chips look like the same type we use at work and we can program them in this chip thing (I don't do this for a living mind, hence not knowing! But will ask next week)

And maybe download the code from some (dogy) website!

Must move the battery, 30 quid is quite a lot to fix it, and I suppose they will only cost more as there is less of them. Thanks.

The roms you can normally find kicking about here if it's been emulated, or put out a request for a set with your stake / JP requirement, then just a case of finding someone to blow the rom's on to a spare set of chips.

For your Epoch (Need you to check for me to make sure), you should just need the stake / prize key I mentioned earlier, to change your stake / prize settings (Much easeier to just deal with one of these too), and for all machines, the %age can be changed the same way, using a switch-blade %age key from the same place (I find 86% gives the best overall gameplay for home use), and works in pretty much the same way as the JP / stake key.

You should put it on 20p/£5, it would play the nuts!!

It would, but for best overall gameplay, best to set 10p play / £5 JP or multiples there of (£10JP / 20p play, etc), and set the percentage to no less than 86%.

Means then, the machine will still give a good game, whilst keeping things realistic with takings etc.
