also the third reel is one position up from
the regular position and
when the door closed it says REFILL
It is played with tokens but he has only two coins.
How can he change the dominations,so that he can play with cash, too?
Also the stake only goes up to 25 times, but not the 50 times.
Has that to do with the dipswitches?
I hope someone can help.

Sounds like a dodgy machine, but.....
Volume : Try holding the 2nd reel button, and inserting/turning the refill key [if there is one on german machines] - hopefully the volume will appear on the alpha display and you can change it using the other 2 hold buttons. If it isn't the 2nd reel button you hold, try the other 2
As for the rest of it, I'm afraid I can't help, have you tried posting over at forums for machines other than UK machines, such as Shaggies for Dutch machines - they might be able to help you more than us

the volume is done on the mpu if using mpu4 or on the game card label as vr1 need a x type screw driver some times and the reel band problem can be fixed by locating the reels art work into a pip which is on the reel your friend should find a cut out which this sides into as for the coin problem try and get it reprogrammed for uk with routing pulg and the tubes from old uk model or find a uk lucky strike club ,take your pick club and take the coin mech with the routing plug and tubes could find them maybe on ebay (( sorry mate did not see your post  ))
