Well I for one think that the point has been made. I'm sure the poster has taken some advice from this so this thread really serves no purpose at all.

The fact that this layout has been uploaded like this, says to me that piesthecat saw nothing wrong with what he was doing. In which case, he has gone to some kind of effort to provide something that he thought people may be grateful for.

Things that seem obvious to us... or what you expect to generally be just simple common sense, are really not the same for everyone.

I agree with pretty much all the points in this thread, but I also think that the guy deserves nothing more than being politely told where he has gone wrong and this download and thread being removed as it may be somewhat embarrassing for the guy.

Having never created a DX (I wish I could), it puts myself in a difficult position to critically attack another persons release. However it has now come to light that this is not an original creation and I understand (as I would feel) that the original creators would be 'well pissed off'.
It's a shame this has happened and brought such bad feeling amongst the FME. Yes Daryl I totally agree with your view.

I understand he should not have done that and why this would annoy anyone, but as I said, what seems to you and me like the obvious thing to do, isn't necessarily obvious to someone else.

That point had been made pretty clear to him early in the thread so that should have been enough.

In fairness mate, pies has been a member here for many years and knows the score...

He has had reprimands from mods admin and members a few times in the past for his posts, and knows ALL the ins and outs of FME on one way or another.

There is, quite simply, no excuse for what he has done... he has cheated - pure and simple - and surely no one deserves any help in that?

If he knew the score he wouldn't have released something in that way. It really doesn't take much to mention someone's name and give them credit where due. The only reason there would be to not do that, is to not be aware that's the right thing to do. True, I may be making somewhat of an assumption there, but no more of one than anyone else would be who was arguing the opposite point.

If this guy had done this before, I would completely agree. However as far as I'm aware he hasn't. Giving him the benefit of the doubt seems the right thing to do.

And to call this a sad day for FME, simply because of this..... is a bit much isn't it?

I'd say it's another pretty irrelevant day for FME personally.

EDIT: Actually, if we really wanted to force this thread into being labelled a bad day for FME. I'd say the fact that this thread has more posts in it that 95% of the genuine releases in the forum, is much more of an eye opener.

I understand where you are coming from with the different viewpoint of looking at this Moco mate, but given pies history on Fruit Emu, I cannot justify it.

Perhaps my passion for FME is a bit extreme, but when it is all you have left in life what you really enjoyed doing in the past - it matters mate... and I will justify my comment on it - it is how I feel.

I just want to make it perfectly clear that I'm not condoning or approving of what this guy did. I'm completely in agreement with everyone else here on that. I just feel that no-one will benefit from this thread turning into everyone saying how terrible and wrong it is. This thread is just not worth being on the forums, unless peoples intentions are to ridicule and make an example out of this guy.

I do understand you in general though and fair enough mate, I respect your feelings on it and I've made my point so I'll leave it there.

we can't judge this until pies replys himself to this topic and gives his side of things if he has just copied ross,s work then fair enough. the only way he can save face himself is to admit he,s done wrong if true, and try to amend his actions like re-releasing this but in his own work next time from scratch but in all fairness as moco said its had more replies than any other new release recently and more downloads in a day than some in there lifetime. fme might of had a bad day but more good ones than bad

and there was me thinking you would try and lamp it yourself

but instead just re sized my layout

Partly my fault which i apologise for Ross , it was me who approved the layout , had i been aware of such blatant plagiarism the layout would not have made it to the homepage.

I guess if your not a layout designer , one layout looks much the same as the next one.

Over to you pies .. some sort of explanation is due surely ... as Daryl said you know the score , you've been here so long you should know ripping off other peoples work is a no-no.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

Plus, he also has a referral link in his forum sig, so that anyone clicking on there and doing something potentially earns him $1.50 + 15% for life on any actions they perform. Not a fan of these kind of links, because they encourage people to post rubbish on the basis it gets their referral link more exposure, and ultimately makes them more money.

Copied from the link :

[Cashle's referral program lets you earn up to $1,5 for each person that signs up, plus a 15% commission on their offer earnings for life.]

Pull this thread, take the layout off and then PM him and ask him to do it properly. If the lad has got anything about him he'll see the error of his ways and come back stronger. Job done.

As for the referral link, I'm not a fan either, but I'm more interested in him learning how to do layouts properly and following forum etiquette regarding their release. That's my advice.

Nice to see you back Ben :)

Nice to see you as well Steve :)

I agree with pulling the thread, before anyone else downloads it. So far 130 people have done so, and most (if not all) will need some kind of therapy to recover from it :)
