Sounds like the battery has gone, and probably leaked.
Alarm on power up which clears after a few attempts sounds like the battery was flat.
Flat batteries are not happy batteries and tend to leak.
If it then starts not powering up at all it could be the power pack, but knowing it was stored out of use for a while (hence the flat battery), probably means the battery has leaked causing damage to the mpu.
I have a spare mpu if you need one. DONT power it up before you check the board, if the board looks fine (no leaky battery or green fur everywhere). If you power up a board with bad corrosion it can cause even more issues.
It could be other things too, but the signs are there that all is not well battery wise.
Check fuses in the power pack too, and the plug.
If it is battery damaged post a photo of the affected area, MPU4's are robust and quite fixable if the leak hasn't gone absolutely everywhere.
