The news are saying that in a years time almost every household will have either a tablet computer, a smart TV or a smart phone in their possesion.

I wonder if this will be the case.....

In a year? Is it bad I have all of these now? :)

I am afraid it is Johnny mate... it is the new digital sound drivers that are used in the newer Microsoft operating systems. they went to pot when they went from Windows XP to Windows Vista onwards with the new drivers.

I have got to admit though that my music that I have always loved listening to, sounds much better through Windows 8 than it did on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. I only used to play my music on my Windows XP computer, but have got much more satisfaction playing it through Windows 8 - but then that could be to do with the new headphones that I got with my iPhone 5 from Apple - they're out of this world! :)

I brougt it, when it first came out, just for the Aero WinFlip feature, and within a week, probably five days maximum, I had uninstalled it and put Windows XP back on - "bag of shite" is a vast understatementin my opinion!

I think I am experincing sound issues with Windows 7. I'm not sure what it is but it just doesn't sound right. Especially with headphones which I don't know is releated or not but I have had two sets of expensive In Ear die with 3 weeks both replaced now have Ultimate Ears 400VI headset but sounds like absolute crap on windows 7 but better on phone.

On Windows 7 the sound is like drowned out =S

Time and time again windows creates a new OS.

Now i'm really confused here, is Windows not windows?......each new OS is based on the past OS isn't it....that was right from the day 95 was given to us.

So if i'm wrong please knock me down here.........if not read on if you can be arsed.

So I buy XP and my support is now ending in a few months........I bought Windows didn't I?, I expect new versions and/or updates, anew version pay a mere fee........i'm now told (plenty of warning I agree) support will cease soon......XP bye.

So as I bought XP I totally expect whatever follows to be a totally differently witten system as i'm being forced to buy it......but they have my nuts in thier hands on this.

Confused!!!!!.......nah i'm not...........i'm just annoyed at their way of doing things..........upgrade or FU you cheap loser.

After it took me about 20 minutes to work out how to shut it down I got bored of it - Why would you need to go into 'Settings' to shut it down!

I have set my Acer Touchscreen Power button to Shutdown Windows 8, and the Sleep button on the keyboard to - well, put it to 'Sleep'! ;)

It is starting to throw me though when I am on Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 7 Professional on my Acer Touchscreen, using a Microsoft keyboard, then going to my MacBook and Mac Mini using the Apple keyboard - I think I am going to get another Apple keyboard and use it on Windows like I did before. I have a driver that installs Apple UK keybaord settings into Windows 7 and Windows 8 so I can use the Apple keyboard.

I have purchased WindowsFX and Fences from Stardock through an email promotion for them. I am not bothered about the Start menu to be honest because I am used to the new Metro Start, but the WindowsFX on Windows 8 (they send you a beta version for Windows 8 as well as the full version for Windows 7) and Fences are a great boon, especially with touchscreen monitors, but even without it, when I use the mouse, the effects are still great.

Some of the features are:

* Wobbly Windows (like in the Linux and OS X operating systems)
* Animated themes for opening, closing menus, windows, and also restore and minimise
* Slide effect to scroll open windows, when framed, so as they glide across the screen, without leaving the desktop view
* Fences to create iPad/iPhone like docks to put your desktop file links in, categorising them to make the desktop look more Metro

Both WindowsFX and Fences can be purchased for just under £10 for both Apps, and if you want to make Windows look more modern, then they are not a waste of money in my opinion... I certainly would recommend Stardock for a lot of Windows themes programs and apps - I love them!

Here's the link: www.stardock.com

Go and check them out to see if you can enjoy more to Windows 8 - and also for Windows 7 and even Windows XP too!
