File Name: Adders & Ladders barcrest 30p/£25 1024wdx
File Submitter: vectra666
File Submitted: 09 Dec 2012
File Category: MPU 5

   Here,s another Adders n Ladders. i played around with the stakes/payout and found the £10 barcrest version went upto 30p/£25jp so i thought i,d release one on that level probably not this machine but a newer type of cabinet, I had to alter the 2 of a kind from 20p to 60p and the last square as £25 etc, it plays fairly good at this stake giving plenty of boards and wins, had the Jackpot and the feature repeat but not had it Jackpot again but it should do as the bank maxes at £75.
 I give thanks to Tommy C for the artwork and the original £10 1280wdx which i used for lamping, of which i may do a 1024wdx in the near future to complete the trilogy, and to ploggy for the original reels etc and to the playtesters Ricardo and Pilky for giving it a quick bash last night cheers all.
  Shortcuts are--
 Start= spacebar,
 Autonudge= A ,
 Holds= 1,2,3 ,
 Cancel/Collect= ` ,
 £££,s in= 0.
 Plays in mfme10.1.
     ENJOY AND HAPPY GAMING!!!

Looks really good Vecs, and thank you for the layout.  I won't be downloading it as I hate the machine, but you have done a very good job there.

Crackin layout Vectra.

Never seen the £25 version in the wild,but I do like the slot and still many £5/10p slots around in the arcades.

Such a shame the gaming giants do not look back at there previous creations,so as to incorperate parts of the past into there new slots.

In the game above the minimum win is 60p.So 2x your stake or price of play.

Now we have the £500 slots where we are staking £1/£2 bets to achieve a minimum win of 50p! :err:

Where did it all go wrong?

Jay

I actually thought I'd hate this on £25, due to the fact it forces small wins on you due to the 'GAIN' setup (typically on a £25 I wouldn't accept wins of £2 or less) and has a 20p payout (especially annoying when you get Snake Bite - and don't even get your 30p stake back!!)

However, I've really enjoyed playing it! At £40 in I was about £35 out, then it paid a £25 by going to the top of the trail.

The layout itself? I seem to recall the flyer was pretty awful for this (I started a version ages ago and was redrawing most of it because I didn't like how it came out - but the important bits (board spaces) are easy to read even at 1024x768 so it's not really necessary.

Only one technical issue I can really find with it -  the areas where the reel windows haven't been 'cleaned' properly. I thought I'd resize the reels a little, and when I hit 'set reel background', I get the effect seen below. You've clearly had a go at cleaning the reel windows on the base art, but every pixel has to be EXACTLY the same colour (I normally use red 0 green 255 blue 0) - if you aren't sure of the tool in Photoshop, just do what I do - open the background art in MS PAINT as a bitmap, use the block square paintbrush (nothing with soft edges or antialiasing), zoom in and colour in the reel windows.

Don't get me wrong, the layout 'works' fine, it's just that I feel it's better to keep the reels within their respective reel windows, instead of dropping them on top and covering the windows up.

Other than that though, it's a fine release, thanks :)

I've attached a screenshot of what happens to the layout as-is and I try to use 'set reel background'.

thanks for the comments about the reels bencrest the artwork was originally sent from tommy,s 10 pound dx and the reels were already blanked out, but i suppose i just cheated a bit and only resize the exsisting reels to fit my layout as im still experimenting with photoshop. i'll take all comments on board and if i remember i,ll use such methods people have shown me in forthcomin layouts
